A fruit tea built on rooibos rather than hibiscus, and that swap is the whole story. Most strawberry teas lean on hibiscus for colour and tang, which is what makes them taste thin and sharp; here the South African red bush gives a smooth, nutty, full body that holds the jammy strawberry up instead of letting it go acidic. The fruit comes through bright and the berry aroma off the cup is the real thing. Naturally caffeine-free, so it works any time including last thing. Next to the Teapigs Rooibos Creme Caramel we also stock, that one is the dessert sweet evening cup and this is the brighter, fruitier daytime one, so pick toffee or berries to go with your red bush. The one caveat: rooibos has its own earthy-woody signature, so if you have disliked redbush before, the strawberry softens but does not hide it. If you are fine with rooibos, this is one of the better-judged fruit versions, and excellent iced. Skip the soft-drink line; it is a clean, naturally sweet everyday cup.
