“Discontinued” is a volatile factual claim. A missing supermarket listing, temporary stock gap or old forum post is not enough; good substitution begins with evidence and ends with flavour structure.

How discontinuation is verified

Prefer a manufacturer product notice, current official catalogue, direct brand response or another primary record. Capture the date and market: a tea can leave the UK while remaining available elsewhere. Retailer absence alone proves only that one retailer does not currently list it.
