Flavoured black tea keeps the body and briskness of true tea while adding aroma. That makes it different from a caffeine-free fruit infusion, even when the box shows the same fruit.
Start with the flavour family
Citrus cuts through black-tea briskness; red fruit adds a berry aroma; peach and mango soften the impression; vanilla or caramel, where available, lead towards dessert. Choose that family first, then compare brand, bag count and price within it.
Lemon gives the fairest brand test
Both Lipton and Hyson currently offer lemon-flavoured black tea, creating the closest like-for-like tasting. Brew equal water and time, taste neat, and note whether the lemon reads as zest, juice-like brightness or confectionery aroma.
Milk is possible, not compulsory
Flavoured black tea retains enough body for milk, but not every fruit welcomes it. Citrus can clash or curdle under some conditions, while peach, berry, vanilla or caramel may be gentler. Taste without milk first and add a very small amount only if it improves the cup.
Ingredient language matters
“With strawberries” or “lemon tea” does not by itself establish the fruit percentage or flavour source. Check the exact ingredient list for fruit pieces, peel, extracts and flavourings. Avoid turning packaging romance into a factual quantity claim.

How we keep this guide useful
Teas.co.uk is the retailer and the editor of this guide. No brand paid for inclusion or position. We start with products that are published and in stock in our own shop, then separate comparable products by tea family, ingredients, format, caffeine position and intended use. “Best” means the best fit for a stated need within this dated shortlist—not a universal tasting result.
Product names such as Sleep, Digest, Defence, Detox or Immune are treated as range labels, not medical evidence. Always read the current ingredient, allergen and preparation information on the pack. If you are pregnant, take medicines or manage a health condition, check ingredients such as liquorice root with an appropriate clinician. Last editorial and catalogue review: 8 August 2026.
