Sold as a caffeine-free energy booster, and that needs flatly correcting: ginseng tea will not give you energy, it has no caffeine and the "adaptogen" and vitality claims are not something I will stand behind. As a drink, pure ginseng root is earthy, woody and faintly bitter, very much an acquired taste with nothing added to soften it. Caffeine-free. It is a niche cup for people who already know and want ginseng for its distinctive flavour; if you are after a genuine lift, this is not it, and no tea is.
