The best fruit or herbal tea is not the one with the longest fruit list. It is the one whose base, tartness, sweetness and caffeine position fit the cup you actually want.
Tart, sweet or perfumed
Hibiscus and rosehip usually push a blend towards vivid colour and refreshing tartness. Apple and sweet roots can round the cup; flowers add aroma; flavourings can amplify named fruit. Decide whether you want mouth-puckering brightness, a softer berry cordial impression or a floral finish.
Caffeine requires an ingredient check
Many fruit and herbal infusions are naturally caffeine-free because they contain no Camellia sinensis. Some “fruit teas,” however, are green or black tea with fruit flavour. Check the exact product rather than applying one rule to the entire category.
Colour is not fruit content
A deep ruby cup can come largely from hibiscus; a pale infusion may still contain the named fruit. Neither colour nor front-of-box photography establishes ingredient quantity. The ordered ingredient list provides the better clue.
Brewing for iced tea
Use freshly boiled water and the pack steep time, then cool promptly. For ice, brew a little stronger so melting does not erase the flavour. Taste before adding syrup: many blends already contain naturally sweet-tasting ingredients even when no sugar is added.
