Clipper Organic Infusion Peppermint & Spearmint, 20 Tea Bags 34g
Mint sits awkwardly close to toothpaste for some people, and no blend talks anyone out of that. If you are in the other camp, this is a better version of a familiar thing: the cold peppermint hit arrives first, then something rounder and sweeter settles behind it, and the cup stops being one flat note. Nothing needs adding, which makes it the easiest drink in the cupboard to put in front of a guest. It is caffeine-free with no tea leaf in it, so it works at any hour. Its best form is not hot at all: left to cool and poured over ice it holds together, where most herbals go thin and papery once the heat is gone.
Clipper Organic Infusion Peppermint & Spearmint, in brief.
Clipper Organic Infusion Peppermint & Spearmint is a twenty-bag box of two mints brewed together, thirty-four grams across twenty bags, picked into the Teas.co.uk curator selection as the rounder alternative to the single-mint peppermint that dominates the shelf.
The pairing is a real difference rather than a marketing one: peppermint leads on menthol and lands cold, spearmint carries almost none and fills in soft and sweet behind it, so the cup finishes rounder than a straight peppermint does. Four to five minutes covered, then take the bag out, because this is one of the few infusions you can genuinely over-steep.
That is not a marketing distinction, it is a chemical one. Peppermint leads on menthol, which is the cold, sharp, nose-clearing part of a mint cup. Spearmint carries almost no menthol at all and leads instead on carvone, which reads as softer, sweeter and rounder. Put them in the same bag and the cold hit arrives first and then something gentler fills in behind it, which is why this drinks less like a mouthwash than a straight peppermint does.

The Story Behind Clipper
Clipper is the Dorset tea house that built its identity on certification rather than on packaging, putting its credentials on the front of the carton where most brands keep them on the back panel. That is company heritage and we repeat it as such. It is not a statement about where the mint in this particular box was grown, and we are not going to pretend it is.
The tasting profile above is our own editorial assessment against the current pack format and the brand's published description.
Packaging: Follow the current UK pack and local-authority guidance; components can require different disposal routes.
What You Are Actually Buying
- Twenty bags, thirty-four grams: one and seven tenths of a gram a bag, which is a fair dose for dried mint leaf.
- Two mints rather than one: the whole argument for this box. If you have only ever drunk peppermint, the spearmint underneath is the thing you will notice first.
- Certified organic: the word is in the product name, so the brand states that much on the front. Which body certifies it, and any further marks on the carton, are printed on the pack.
- No caffeine at all: there is no tea leaf in the blend, so nothing has been decaffeinated and there is no residual figure to quote.
- Nothing added: no sugar, and the sweetness in the cup is the leaf's own. Taste it before you reach for honey, because most people find they do not want any.

The taste profile
How does it compare
Mint is a leaf, not a root, so it gives up its character quickly and then keeps going. The mistake here is the opposite of the ginger mistake: you can over-steep this. Past about seven minutes the cooling brightness starts to flatten into something vegetal, and the cup loses the lift that is the point of it.
The Everyday Mug
Getting It Right in the Cup
Made with this tea
The Covered Mug
How to make The Covered Mug with Clipper Organic Peppermint and Spearmint.
- 1 bag Clipper Organic Peppermint & Spearmint
- 250ml water straight off the boil
- A thin slice of lemon, optional
- Pour 250ml of water straight off the boil over one bag.
- Cover the mug with a saucer at once. The part you are paying for is volatile and leaves with the steam.
- Steep four to five minutes, then lift the bag out rather than leaving it in.
- Drink it clear, or drop in a thin slice of lemon to push the spearmint further forward.
What you'll end up with: A mint cup that stays bright to the bottom of the mug instead of flattening out. The saucer is the single biggest improvement available here.
Proper Iced Mint Tea
How to make Proper Iced Mint Tea with Clipper Organic Peppermint and Spearmint.
- 3 bags Clipper Organic Peppermint & Spearmint
- 400ml just boiled water
- A tall glass filled to the top with ice
- A handful of fresh mint leaves
- Steep three bags in 400ml for six minutes, covered, then lift them out and cool the infusion completely.
- Bruise the fresh mint leaves between your palms and drop them into the glass.
- Fill the glass right to the top with ice, then pour the cold infusion over.
Cooling flavour over cold liquid compounds rather than cancels, and there is no tannin to turn it bitter.
Overnight Cold Brew Jug
How to make Overnight Cold Brew Jug with Clipper Organic Peppermint and Spearmint.
- 4 bags Clipper Organic Peppermint & Spearmint
- 1 litre cold water
- Half a cucumber, sliced, optional
- Drop four bags into a litre jug of cold water.
- Refrigerate for six to eight hours, or overnight.
- Lift the bags out in the morning and add the cucumber if you want it.
- Keep it in the fridge and drink within two days.
What you'll end up with: Cleaner and noticeably sweeter than the hot version, because the menthol never gets hot enough to escape into the air. The jug people finish fastest in a hot week.
Moroccan-Style Mint Pot
How to make Moroccan-Style Mint Pot with Clipper Organic Peppermint and Spearmint.
- 3 bags Clipper Organic Peppermint & Spearmint
- 500ml water straight off the boil
- 1 teaspoon honey or sugar, to taste
- Fresh mint sprigs
- Warm the pot first, then add three bags and 500ml of water straight off the boil.
- Steep five minutes with the lid on, then lift all three bags out.
- Sweeten lightly while it is hot and drop in a couple of fresh mint sprigs.
- Pour from a height into small glasses, which aerates it and softens the menthol.
What you'll end up with: The tea-house treatment without the gunpowder green base, so it stays caffeine free and can close a meal at any hour.
Mint Syrup for the Fridge
How to make Mint Syrup for the Fridge with Clipper Organic Peppermint and Spearmint.
- 4 bags Clipper Organic Peppermint & Spearmint
- 250ml just boiled water
- 150g caster sugar
- Steep four bags in 250ml for eight minutes, covered, then lift them out and squeeze them against the side of the jug.
- Warm the infusion in a small pan with the sugar until every grain has dissolved.
- Simmer two or three minutes, no longer, or you will cook the freshness out of it.
- Cool and bottle. It keeps in the fridge for a fortnight.
What you'll end up with: A clean mint syrup for soda water, lemonade and anything chocolate. Better than the bought stuff because there is no colouring and no artificial sweetness in it.
After-Dinner Mint and Dark Chocolate
How to make After-Dinner Mint and Dark Chocolate with Clipper Organic Peppermint and Spearmint.
- 1 bag Clipper Organic Peppermint & Spearmint
- 200ml water straight off the boil
- Two squares of dark chocolate, 70 per cent or above
- Brew one bag in 200ml for five minutes, covered, then lift it out.
- Let a square of dark chocolate melt on the tongue before the first mouthful.
- Alternate sips and squares. The cooling strips the cocoa butter off the palate and resets it each time.
What you'll end up with: The reason mint and dark chocolate is a fixture rather than a fashion, and a better close to a meal than a second coffee.
Brewing the perfect cup
What’s in it, what to know
Inside the pack
| Ingredient | Proportion | What it brings |
|---|---|---|
| Peppermint leaf | Not stated to us | The lead. Carries the menthol, and with it the cold, clean, nose-clearing lift that arrives first in the mouth. |
| Spearmint leaf | Not stated to us | The reason this is not just another peppermint. Almost no menthol; softer, sweeter and herbier, and it lands behind the cold so the cup does not finish sharp. |
| Infusion base | Not stated to us | Any unquantified base carrying the two headline leaves. The ingredient panel on the current carton is the authority on what else is in the bag. |

What's in Clipper Organic Infusion Peppermint & Spearmint, and what isn't:
- In: a certified organic, naturally caffeine-free infusion of two mint leaves, peppermint leading and spearmint filling in behind it.
- No caffeine: there is no tea leaf in the carton, so there was none to remove and nothing has been decaffeinated.
- No added sugar: the sweetness in the cup is the leaf's own, and it is higher than most people expect from a mint. Taste before adding anything.
- No liquorice: a good many mint blends reach for it to sweeten the cup. This one does not, which also means it carries none of the cautions liquorice does.
