Start with the practical warning rather than the flavour: turmeric stains. The Story Behind Clipper
Clipper is the Dorset tea house that built its entire identity on certification rather than on packaging. Where most brands treat organic and Fairtrade as a line on the back panel, Clipper puts both on the front and has done for as long as anyone in the trade can remember. That is company heritage and we are happy to repeat it as such. It is not a statement about where the roots in this particular box were grown, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

What You Are Actually Buying
- Twenty bags, thirty-six grams: one and eight tenths of a gram a bag. That is a proper dose for a root infusion and more than several of the cheaper ginger boxes give you.
- No caffeine at all: there is no tea leaf in the blend, so nothing has been decaffeinated and there is no residual caffeine to quote. This can be drunk at midnight.
- A root drink, not a fruit drink: there is no citrus in the name and none in the cup. If you have been drinking lemon-and-ginger blends, this will taste deeper and less bright than you expect, which is the point of it.

- 1 bag Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger & Turmeric
- 250ml water straight off the boil
- 1 teaspoon honey, optional
- Pour 250ml of water straight off the boil over one bag.
- Cover the mug with a saucer and leave it the full five minutes. The colour arrives in one minute and the flavour in five, so do not trust your eyes.
- Lift the bag out and stir in the honey only if the turmeric reads too earthy for you.
- Drink it while it is genuinely hot, because the warmth is most of the point.
What you'll end up with: A properly warming root cup rather than the pale yellow water most people get out of this blend. The saucer and the five minutes are the entire difference.
Golden Latte
How to make Golden Latte with Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger and Turmeric.
- 1 bag Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger & Turmeric
- 150ml water straight off the boil
- 100ml oat or whole milk
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
- Brew one bag in only 150ml for five minutes, covered, so the base comes out deliberately concentrated.
- Heat 100ml of oat or whole milk until it steams, and froth it if you have anything to froth it with.
- Lift the bag out, stir the honey into the hot concentrate, then pour the milk in.
- Dust the top with a little ground cinnamon if you have some.
What you'll end up with: A golden latte with none of the work of making one from raw turmeric, and no risk of curdling, because there is no citrus anywhere in this blend to turn the milk.

- 3 bags Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger & Turmeric
- 500ml water straight off the boil
- 1 tablespoon honey, optional
- Steep three bags in 500ml for eight minutes with the lid on.
- Lift all three bags out before the first pour, or the pot will keep getting hotter as it stands.
- Stir in the honey while the pot is still hot if you want it rounder.
- Leave it on the side. With no tannin in it, it will not turn bitter for an hour, which black tea cannot manage.
What you'll end up with: The pot that suits a cold afternoon at a desk, and the base for both the iced build and the syrup below.
Iced Root Cooler

- 3 bags Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger & Turmeric
- 400ml just boiled water
- A tall glass filled with ice
- Fresh lime, cut into wedges
- Steep three bags in 400ml for eight minutes, then cool the infusion completely.
- Fill a tall glass right to the top with ice.
- Pour the cold infusion over and squeeze a wedge of lime into it.
- Stir once and drink straight away, while the ice is still whole.
What you'll end up with: Warming root against cold liquid is a much better combination than it reads on paper, and unlike black tea this will not cloud or turn bitter as it chills.

How to make Ginger Root Syrup for the Fridge with Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger and Turmeric.
- 4 bags Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger & Turmeric
- 250ml just boiled water
- 150g caster sugar
- A strip of lemon peel, optional
- Steep four bags in 250ml for ten minutes, covered, then lift them out and squeeze them against the side of the jug.
- Pour the hot infusion into a small pan with the sugar and warm it gently until every grain has dissolved.
- Simmer for three or four minutes until it thickens very slightly, then take it off the heat.
- Cool and bottle it. It keeps in the fridge for a fortnight.
What you'll end up with: A gold-coloured root syrup that turns soda water into a proper ginger drink, and goes into a whisky as readily as it goes over ice cream.
Pears Poached in Root Infusion
How to make Pears Poached in Root Infusion with Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger and Turmeric.
- 4 bags Clipper Restoring Roots Ginger & Turmeric
- 600ml just boiled water
- 4 firm pears, peeled
- 100g caster sugar
- Steep four bags in 600ml for ten minutes to make a deliberately strong liquor, then lift the bags out.
- Dissolve the sugar into the hot liquor in a pan wide enough to hold the pears lying down.
- Poach the peeled pears at a bare simmer for twenty to twenty-five minutes, turning them once, until a knife goes in without resistance.
- Reduce the remaining liquor by half over a high heat and spoon it over the pears.
