A Simple Cup of Moringa

An earthy, grassy, caffeine free moringa cup, brewed cool to keep it from turning bitter.

A Simple Cup Of Moringa

Moringa is a green, leafy plant brewed much like a Green Tea, with an earthy, grassy, slightly savoury flavour and no caffeine at all. Because it can lean bitter, the trick is to brew it with water just off the boil rather than fully boiling.

Four minutes draws out plenty of flavour. It is an acquired taste on its own, very green and vegetal, but a slice of lemon or a little honey softens the earthiness if you find it strong.

Method

  1. Warm your mug with a splash of hot water and tip it out.
  2. Boil the kettle and let it cool for a minute to about 80C.
  3. Drop in the bag, pour over 200ml of the cooled water, and cover.
  4. Steep for four minutes.
  5. Lift out the bag without squeezing it, which can make it bitter.
  6. Drink it as it is, or soften the earthiness with a slice of lemon or a little honey.
  7. Tip: moringa is caffeine free, so it suits any time of day, including last thing at night.
What you'll end up with: A clean, green, caffeine free cup of moringa, earthy and good any time of day.
