Warming Honey, Ginger and Lemon Green Tea
Lemon green tea steeped with fresh ginger and honey, a warming, comforting mug for a cold day.

Warming Honey, Ginger and Lemon Green Tea takes the bright lemon green and turns it into a comforting mug for a cold day. Fresh ginger brings a gentle warmth, honey rounds off the citrus, and the green tea keeps the whole thing light rather than heavy.

Serves one. Brew the green at 80C as always so it stays smooth, and steep the ginger alongside it so its warmth has time to come through. Leave the ginger in for a stronger, spicier mug.
You'll need
- 1 tea bag of Tetley Green Tea with Lemon
- 200ml just off boil water cooled to about 80C (boil, then rest the kettle for roughly 90 seconds)
- 2 thin slices of fresh ginger
- 1 to 2 teaspoons honey, to taste
- Optional: an extra slice of lemon
Method
- Drop the ginger slices into your mug. Rest the boiled kettle for about 90 seconds, then pour 100ml of roughly 80C water over the ginger and let it sit for a minute.
- Add the tea bag and top up with another 100ml of the 80C water.
- Steep for 2 to 3 minutes, then lift the bag out without squeezing. Leave the ginger in if you like it stronger.
- Stir in honey to taste and add a slice of lemon. Sip while warm.
- Stir the honey in once the cup has cooled a little; very hot water dulls honey aroma and its delicate notes.
