A Gentle Cup of Green Mint Tea

A clean, light cup of green tea and peppermint, brewed gently at 80C so the green leaf and mint stay smooth, not harsh.

A Gentle Cup Of Green Mint Tea

Cotterley pairs Green Tea with peppermint, so it brews like a green tea: keep the water off the boil at around 80C, or the green leaf turns bitter and the mint goes harsh. Three minutes is enough for a clean, light cup with a cool mint finish.

There is a little caffeine in it from the green tea. Makes one mug.

You'll need

Method

  1. Warm a mug with hot water and tip it out.
  2. Boil the kettle, then let it cool for a minute to about 80C; green tea wants it below boiling.
  3. Add the bag, pour over 200ml and cover for three minutes.
  4. Lift the bag out without squeezing it, as pressing a green tea bag pushes out bitterness.
  5. Keep the water off the boil; too hot and both the green leaf and the mint turn harsh.
What you'll end up with: A pale, clean cup with soft green tea behind a cool peppermint lift. Light and refreshing, with just a little caffeine.
