Verveine, lemon verbena, is the classic French after-dinner cup, and a pure single-herb one like this is the right way to meet it. Do not confuse it with lemongrass; the Teapigs Pure Lemongrass is sharper and more grassy-citrus, while verbena is rounder, softer and more elegant, a sunny lemon top over a clean, almost perfumed leaf base with a silky, throat-coating body. Being single-ingredient, there is nothing to muddy it, which is why the finish stays so clean with no dusty bitterness. It belongs exactly where the French put it, as a light cup after a heavy meal, when anything sweet or spiced would feel wrong. Caffeine-free, so fine late in the evening. A small swirl of honey lifts the citrus without making it sugary, and it works cold-brewed as a delicate iced infusion too. Forget the marketing; this is a quietly refined, gentle cup, and a graceful alternative to mint or camomile after dinner.
