Rochambeau pitches this as the cafe-style nana mint cup, and it backs it with a generous 2g of ingredients per bag, which you can taste, it brews fuller and more aromatic than a flimsy supermarket bag. The mint is the lead: sharp, cooling peppermint up front and a room-filling fresh-mint aroma, with a smooth nutty green base holding it steady underneath rather than turning bitter. Against the alternatives: the Cotterley Green Mint is the more even, restrained balance, the Lipton is mint-forward in pyramid bags, and this Rochambeau is the fullest-bodied, most generously dosed of the trio, the one to pick if you want a proper strong Moroccan-style brew. Water temperature80°C. Without a thermometer or a kettle you can set, it is guesswork, as the time water takes to drop from the boil changes with the kettle and the volume. Those delicate amino acids are where green tea's smooth, sweet side comes from, and water at a full 100°C wrecks them.

MeasureA 200ml mug of water takes one bag. For loose leaf, use one heaped teaspoon.

Steep2 to 3 minutes and out comes the bag, or the cup goes bitter. Remove the bag promptly; do not squeeze.

ServiceNo milk, no sugar: the sweet, grassy leaf and the mint carry it. Add a lemon slice if you want a brighter cup.
