This turns chilled Twinings Vanilla Black Tea into a homemade cream soda: the smooth vanilla note with a little sugar and a splash of soda tastes much like the old-fashioned bottled kind. Float a little milk on top and you have the look as well as the taste, all without alcohol.

You'll need
- 3 tea bags of Twinings Vanilla Flavoured Black Tea
- 300ml freshly boiled water (100C)
- 1 tablespoon sugar or honey, or to taste
- 200ml chilled soda water
- A splash of milk, optional
- Plenty of ice
Method
- Steep the 3 tea bags in the boiled water for 4 minutes, then lift them out.
- Stir in the sugar while warm so it dissolves, then leave to cool and chill well.
- Fill two tall glasses with ice and divide the chilled vanilla tea between them.
- Top each with chilled soda water and stir gently.
- Float a little milk on top for a cream-soda look, and serve straight away.
- Pour the floating milk slowly over the back of a spoon to keep it a white layer; that cream-soda look is most of the effect.
