The recipe

Exact quantities, then the method.

Matcha Style Whisked Cup gets you a frothy, vivid green cup without buying matcha, by whisking the fine leaf straight into the water instead of steeping the bag. With Tetley Decaf Pure Green you get the matcha ritual and a fuller, greener cup, all caffeine-free.

Serves one. Keep the water at 80C as always, and use a small whisk or a milk frother to work up the froth. The cup will be a little cloudy, which is the fine leaf itself.

⏱ 5 min 🍽 Serves 1 📊 Easy 📚 Green Tea Recipes

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Tetley Decaf Pure Green Tea
  • 150ml just-off-boil water cooled to about 80C (boil, then rest the kettle for roughly 90 seconds)
  • A small whisk or milk frother
  • Optional: a little honey, or warm milk to make a latte

Method

  1. Snip open the tea bag and tip the fine green leaf into a wide cup or bowl.
  2. Add a splash of the 80C water and whisk to a paste, then add the rest and whisk briskly in a zig-zag until frothy.
  3. The fine leaf gives a matcha-style froth and a fuller, greener cup than steeping. It will be a little cloudy, which is just the leaf.
  4. Sweeten with a little honey, or top with warm frothed milk for a caffeine-free green latte.
What you'll end up with: A frothy, vivid, matcha-style decaf green cup, fuller and greener than a steeped bag, with no caffeine.
