A Proper Cup of Spanish Lemon Tea
A simple, bright cup of lemon black tea brewed straight off the boil and finished with an optional slice of fresh lemon.

This is a lemon flavoured Black Tea, so treat it like any good black brew: one bag, water straight off the boil, and a steep of about four minutes to pull out both the tea and the citrus. It comes out bright and tangy all on its own.

A thin slice of fresh lemon at the end sharpens it further if you fancy, though it is perfectly good without. One thing worth knowing: leave the milk out. Milk and lemon do not get along, and it will curdle and flatten the citrus.
You'll need
- 1 tea bag of Lipton Black Tea with Spanish Lemons
- 250ml freshly drawn water at 100C, just off the boil
- 1 thin slice of fresh lemon
- 1 250ml mug, warmed
- 1 saucer for covering during steep
Method
- Warm your mug and bring the water to a rolling boil.
- Add one tea bag and pour over 250ml of the boiling water.
- Cover and steep for four minutes to draw out the full citrus.
- Lift the bag out, letting it drain against the rim.
- Drop in a thin slice of fresh lemon if you want a sharper edge.
- Tip: leave the milk out; it curdles against the citrus and mutes the lemon.
