The recipe

Exact quantities, then the method.

Pomegranate and gin are a natural pair, both sharp and a little perfumed. Stir a chilled shot of Twinings Pomegranate Green Tea into a gin and tonic, add lime, and the fruit cuts through the juniper while the green leaf keeps it dry. A few pomegranate seeds dropped in finish it off.

⏱ 10 min plus chilling 🍽 Makes 2 glasses 📊 Easy 📚 Tea Cocktails (Adults Only)

You'll need

  • 2 tea bags of Twinings Pomegranate Green Tea
  • 150ml freshly boiled water, cooled to around 80C (check with a thermometer)
  • 50ml gin
  • 200ml chilled tonic water
  • 1 lime, half juiced and half sliced
  • A handful of pomegranate seeds, to garnish
  • Plenty of ice

Method

  1. Let the boiled water stand for about a minute, steep the 2 bags for 3 minutes, then lift them out without squeezing and chill.
  2. Fill two glasses with ice and divide the chilled tea and gin between them.
  3. Top with chilled tonic water and add the lime juice.
  4. Stir gently, finish with lime slices and pomegranate seeds, and serve straight away.
  5. A sloe gin mixed 50:50 with a London Dry works well; the berry character bridges the botanicals and the tart pomegranate naturally.
What you'll end up with: A sharp, ruby G and T with tart pomegranate cutting the gin and the juniper holding underneath.
