Ginger Green Tea Moscow Mule

A drier take on the Moscow Mule, built on strong chilled Twinings Ginger Green Tea with vodka and lime.

Ginger Green Tea Moscow Mule

A mule is all about ginger, so ginger Green Tea slots in naturally. Swap half the usual ginger beer for a strong, chilled brew of Twinings Ginger Green Tea and the drink comes out drier and less sugary, with a green tea note sitting under the spice. Vodka, lime and ice in a copper mug do the rest.

⏱ 10 min plus chilling 🍽 Makes 2 mugs 📊 Easy 📚 Tea Cocktails (Adults Only)

You'll need

  • 2 tea bags of Twinings Ginger Green Tea
  • 200ml freshly boiled water, cooled for about a minute (around 80C)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 100ml vodka
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 150ml chilled ginger beer or soda water
  • Plenty of ice and lime wedges, to serve

Method

  1. Let the boiled water stand for about a minute, then steep the 2 bags for 4 minutes and lift them out without squeezing.
  2. Stir in the honey while warm, then leave to cool and chill.
  3. Fill two copper mugs or tumblers with plenty of ice.
  4. Divide the chilled tea, vodka and lime juice between the mugs and stir.
  5. Top each with chilled ginger beer or soda, add a lime wedge, and serve.
  6. Use ginger beer rather than soda in the finish for a double ginger mule; choose one that is not too sweet or the green tea gets lost.
What you'll end up with: A long, dry mule with sharp lime and a double hit of ginger, the green tea keeping it from turning too sweet.
