Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection Pack 20, 35g
Buy this for a house where nobody agrees. Twenty bags, several different blends, and the arithmetic means two or three of whatever you love and two or three of whatever you do not. That is what a sampler is, and it is why it never quite replaces a box of one thing. It earns its place as the box you leave out when guests stay past supper and nobody wants to be asked twice what they would like.
Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection Pack 20, in brief.
Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection is a twenty-bag carton of the established Twinings fruit and herbal infusions, sold on what the blends are rather than what they are for, picked into the Teas.co.uk curator selection as the easiest selection box to buy for a household with mixed tastes.
Four infusions, five envelopes of each: Pure Peppermint, Lemon and Ginger, Pure Camomile, Strawberry and Raspberry.
Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection gathers the established end of the Twinings infusion range into one twenty-bag carton. Classics is the operative word: these are the blends the house has sold for years rather than the ones on the front of this season's shelf.
The box holds 20 individually sealed envelopes, five each of four infusions: Pure Peppermint, Lemon and Ginger, Pure Camomile, and Strawberry and Raspberry, per Twinings. None contains tea leaf, so none contains caffeine.

A classics carton is a different proposition from a wellbeing one. The blends in it are not sold on what they are for, they are sold on what they are, which makes the box far easier to shop for a household with mixed tastes. Everyone can usually name a fruit or herbal infusion they get on with, and the odds of one of them being in a Twinings classics box are good. Twenty bags at 35g net is 1.75g a bag, a normal weight for a fruit and herbal infusion and about half as much again as a black tea bag carries, because dried fruit pieces and flowers take up more room per gram than cut leaf.
The Story Behind Twinings
Twinings is the family tea house trading from London since 1706, and the fruit and herbal side of what it sells is far older than the wellbeing ranges that now sit beside it on the shelf. A classics carton is the house showing its settled work rather than its new work, and that is a genuine argument for buying it: a blend that has stayed in a range for years has stayed for a reason, and it is far less likely to be discontinued out from under you than a seasonal one.
The ingredient list for each blend, the allergen advice, the bag material and the best-before date must all be read off the current UK pack rather than taken from this page.

What You Are Actually Buying
- Count and weight: twenty bags, 35g net, which is 1.75g a bag.
- Caffeine: fruit and herbal infusions are made from dried fruit, flowers, leaves and roots rather than tea leaf, so there is no caffeine coming from the base of these blends.

The taste profile
How does it compare
Fruit and herbal infusions are the most forgiving thing in a tea cupboard and almost everyone under-brews them. There is no tea leaf in the bag and therefore no tannin, so nothing turns bitter however long you leave it, and the usual two-minute habit that works for a black tea produces a thin, watery cup here.

Made with this tea
The Plain Mug
How to make The Plain Mug with Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection.
- 1 bag Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection
- 250ml just boiled water
- A slice of lemon, optional
- Pour 250ml of water straight off the boil over one bag of Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection, 20 Tea Bags 35g.
- Cover the mug with a saucer and leave it 6 minutes.
- Lift the bag out and drink it clear.
- A slice of lemon suits the fruit bags and does nothing for the mint ones.
What you'll end up with: Six minutes rather than two is the whole difference. Nothing here turns bitter, so there is no reason to rush it.
Iced Fruit Jug
How to make an Iced Fruit Jug with Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection.
- 4 bags Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection
- 500ml just boiled water
- 500ml cold water and ice
- 1 lemon, sliced
- Brew 4 fruit bags of Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection, 20 Tea Bags 35g in 500ml of just boiled water for 8 minutes, double strength.
- Lift the bags out and top up with 500ml of cold water.
- Chill, then serve over ice with lemon slices.
- Use the fruit bags for this rather than the floral ones, which go flat cold.
What you'll end up with: Brewing double strength and diluting cold is what stops iced tea going watery once the ice starts melting into it.
Fruit Tea Jelly
How to make Fruit Tea Jelly with Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection.
- 4 bags Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection
- 500ml just boiled water
- 60g caster sugar
- •4 gelatine leaves or vegetarian equivalent
- A handful of fresh berries
- Brew 4 fruit bags of Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection, 20 Tea Bags 35g in 500ml of just boiled water for 10 minutes.
- Stir in 60g of caster sugar while hot, then the softened gelatine or its vegetarian equivalent as the packet directs.
- Divide a handful of fresh berries between 4 glasses and pour the liquid over them.
- Chill until set, at least 4 hours.
What you'll end up with: A far better jelly than a packet makes, and one of the few ways to put a fruit tea on a plate rather than in a glass.
Fruit Tea Poaching Liquor for Pears
How to make a Fruit Tea Poaching Liquor with Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection.
- 4 bags Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection
- 700ml just boiled water
- 100g caster sugar
- •4 firm pears, peeled
- A strip of lemon peel
- Brew 4 bags of Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection, 20 Tea Bags 35g in 700ml of just boiled water for 10 minutes and lift the bags out.
- Dissolve 100g of caster sugar into the hot liquid with a strip of lemon peel.
- Poach 4 peeled firm pears at a bare simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until a knife slides in.
- Reduce the remaining liquor by half and pour it over to serve.
What you'll end up with: The pears take the colour as well as the flavour, which is most of why this looks like more work than it is.
Classics Mocktail

- 2 bags Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection
- 150ml just boiled water
- Ice
- Juice of half a lime
- Fresh mint
- 100ml chilled soda water

- Top with 100ml of chilled soda water.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
What you'll end up with: Dry, sharp and barely sweet, which is what most shop-bought alternatives are not. Caffeine free, so it suits a late evening.
Two Bag Pot
How to make a Two Bag Pot with Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection.
- 2 bags, two different blends
- 500ml just boiled water
- A warmed teapot
- Warm the pot with boiling water and tip it out.
- Brew 2 bags of Twinings Fruit Herbal Classics Collection, 20 Tea Bags 35g, one of each of two blends, in 500ml of just boiled water for 6 minutes.
- Lift both bags out together before pouring.
- Contrast rather than match: a citrus with a mint, a berry with a camomile.
What you'll end up with: Two berry blends together give you something vaguer than either one alone. Contrast is the rule that makes this work.

| Ingredient | Proportion | What it brings |
|---|---|---|
| Classic fruit and herbal infusions | Not stated to us | The whole of the carton. Several established Twinings infusions, each with its own ingredient list printed on the pack. |
| Tea leaf | none from the infusion base | A fruit and herbal carton contains no tea, which is why there is no caffeine, no tannin and no astringency in the cup however long you brew it. |
| Format | 20 bags, 35g net | 1.75g a bag, the normal weight for a fruit and herbal infusion and heavier than a black tea bag, because dried fruit pieces and flowers are bulky. |
