The Tea people section covers the people behind the cup, from Lu Yu, the patron saint of tea, to the merchants and blenders who built the brands Britain drinks. Its newest entry is the only one written about someone who can walk in and correct us. He did.
From cars to tea
Before tea, there were cars. Lee Samuel Tucker spent fifteen years in the motor trade, eleven of them as a registered director of Ticehurst Motors Limited in Kent, from March 2013 until he stepped down in October 2024. The business built up more than 960 customer reviews on Buy With Confidence, the Trading Standards approved trader scheme.
It is a trade where a wrong answer is a car that does not work and a customer standing in front of you. That is the standard he brought to tea: say what is true, and be able to show it. It is why the shop publishes its own numbers, why product claims have to come from the pack or the maker, and why the wiki shows its sources.
The marketplace lesson
He had sold online at scale before. An earlier online business of his turned over around £153,000 on an online marketplace, with a best single day of about £13,000. He walked away from it on purpose.
The lesson he took from it shapes everything here: a business that lives on somebody else's platform can be switched off by somebody else. So teas.co.uk is his own shop, on his own web address, with its own customers. Nobody else decides whether it can be found, what it costs to be seen, or who gets to keep the customer.
Built by hand, with help from the machines
There is no agency behind teas.co.uk and no staff. Lee taught himself the web and uses AI tools as his development team. The shop, the wiki and the machine-readable layers underneath them were built that way, from Tunbridge Wells.
An old address and a young company
The web address came long before the shop. teas.co.uk was registered on 26 March 1997, 173 days before google.com, as we explained earlier this week. The company that trades on it, Shop At www.teas.co.uk Ltd, was incorporated on 18 October 2025 with Lee as sole director, and it took its first order at 13:24 on 18 November 2025.

The URSY network
Lee Samuel Tucker is also the founder of the URSY network, more than 70 websites built as resources for AI assistants and software agents as well as for people. In his own words: "We're building everything for bots. That's the difference." This month the two projects met, in the test we described in We are advertising to robots.
Why he belongs in the section
The Tea people section is not only for the giants. It is for the people whose work shows up in the cup, and in a British tea market where most tea goes home in a supermarket trolley, an independent shop that answers to its own customers is part of that story. The entry sets out what he has built, where it came from and the experiment he is running next, and it says plainly that we are not neutral about him.
Two birthdays coming up
Next month, on 18 October, the company turns one. On 18 November the shop celebrates its first trading birthday. And today the shop also passed 1,000 products, with 693 new lines and 85 new brand pages. Not a bad way to start the countdown.
