The recipe

Exact quantities, then the method.

Twinings Spiced Ginger is the chai-adjacent one: ginger root for the warming bite, with cinnamon and cardamom adding a gentle spice and no caffeine at all. Brewed in just-boiled water it pours a golden cup; a splash of milk takes it towards a proper chai.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Twinings Spiced Ginger
  • 200ml freshly boiled water (100C)
  • A little honey or a splash of milk, to taste (optional)

Method

  1. Pop the bag into your favourite cup or mug.
  2. Pour over the freshly boiled water.
  3. Steep for 4 to 5 minutes, longer for a bolder, spicier ginger flavour.
  4. Lift out the bag, then add a little honey or a splash of milk if you like.
  5. Stir in a small pinch of ground cardamom to lift the warm spice already in the blend.
What you'll end up with: A gently spiced cup of ginger, cinnamon and cardamom with a real warming bite, caffeine-free.
