The recipe

Exact quantities, then the method.

Yogi Tea Organic Throat Comfort is a warming sweet-and-spice Ayurvedic-style blend of liquorice, slippery elm, cinnamon and ginger. Brewed five minutes, it gives a caffeine-free, smooth cup with the deep flavour of liquorice and a gentle warming spice. The liquorice means it needs no sugar.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Yogi Tea Organic Throat Comfort
  • 250ml freshly boiled water (100C)
  • A slice of lemon, optional
  • A little extra honey, optional

Method

  1. Pop the tea bag in your favourite mug.
  2. Pour over the freshly boiled water and leave to steep for 5 minutes so the liquorice and spices come through.
  3. Lift out the bag without squeezing it.
  4. There is no need for sugar, as the liquorice is naturally sweet, but a slice of lemon lifts it nicely.
  5. Sip warm and enjoy a smooth, naturally sweet cup.
  6. The slippery elm gives the cup a slightly silky body; drink it while hot for the best texture.
What you'll end up with: A smooth, caffeine-free cup, deep with liquorice and warmed by cinnamon and ginger, sweet without any sugar.
