The Standard Cup (Yorkshire Tea Toast And Jam, Builder Strength)

Yorkshire Tea Toast and Jam is a proper malty Black Tea with cosy toasted-bread and strawberry-jam notes, and it wants brewing strong. Give it a good 3 to 4 minutes for a builder-strength cup, add a splash of milk, and it really does taste like a brew made for jam on toast.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Yorkshire Tea Toast and Jam
  • 300ml freshly boiled water (100C)
  • A splash of milk
  • Sugar or honey, optional, to taste

Method

  1. Pop the tea bag in a big mug.
  2. Pour over the freshly boiled water and leave to steep for 3 to 4 minutes for a proper builder strength.
  3. Lift out the bag, giving it a gentle squeeze for extra strength if you like a strong cup.
  4. Add a splash of milk, and sugar or honey if you take it.
  5. Stir and enjoy a cosy cup that tastes like jam on toast.
  6. Builder strength brings out the toast-and-jam note; steep the full 4 minutes and add milk last so you taste it first.
What you'll end up with: A strong, malty cup with toasted-bread and jam notes, properly comforting with a splash of milk.
