The recipe

Exact quantities, then the method.

The Brisk Refreshing Cup plays to exactly what Tetley Seriously Refreshing is for: a lively, clean, brisk Black Tea that wakes you up rather than a heavy, malty sit-down brew. Brewed properly it gives a bright cup that is just as good black with a slice of lemon as it is with a splash of milk.

Serves one. Use full boiling water and a standard steep, then take it however you like, the brisk character carries both milk and lemon.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Tetley Seriously Refreshing
  • 200ml freshly boiled water (100C)
  • Milk to taste (optional)
  • A slice of lemon or sugar to taste (optional)

Method

  1. Boil fresh water and pour it over the bag at a full 100C.
  2. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes for a brisk, refreshing cup.
  3. Press the bag against the side of the mug and lift it out.
  4. Take it as you like, with a splash of milk or a slice of lemon. Its clean, brisk character suits both.
  5. Choose milk or lemon, not both; the acid in lemon curdles milk into specks.
What you'll end up with: A bright, brisk, refreshing cup with a clean finish, lively enough to drink black or with a splash of milk.
