Curator note · Twinings
The peppermint-green, not a spearmint Moroccan one, and that matters: this leads with a sharp, cool menthol lift rather than the rounder sweetness of the Good Earth or Dragonfly mint-greens, kept clean with no bitterness over a mild green base. It is more of a brisk palate-reset than a soothing sipper. Real green tea means caffeine, so a daytime cup, not an evening one, and it is sharp enough to be good iced. Pick it for crisp and cooling; choose a spearmint version if you want sweet and mellow.
Lee Samuel Tucker · Curator · teas.co.uk

Twinings Mint Green Tea is the mint-flavoured green tea from the Twinings range, the standard green tea base blended with peppermint and spearmint leaves, picked into the Teas.co.uk curator selection as the green-tea answer to the Moroccan-style mint cup and the daytime alternative to a plain Pure Green Tea or a flavoured fruit-green tea.

The green tea does the structural backbone work, giving the cup its pale-gold colour, while the peppermint and spearmint sit on top as the cooling lift, brighter and sharper than a plain Sencha would carry on its own. The cup drinks cleaner and fresher than either the leaf or the mint would alone.

Packaging: Follow the current UK pack and local-authority guidance; components can require different disposal routes.

A twenty-bag Twinings household pack at an accessible price, a sensible daytime upgrade over a plain Pure Green Tea or a plain peppermint herbal in the standard supermarket aisle.

Curator notes: the tasting profile reflects our own editorial review against the current pack format and the brand spec sheet, cross-checked with brewing trials at the recommended steep time and water temperature. Storage notes, freshness windows and brewing temperature ranges are also published in the detailed Q and A tab below.

The Story Behind the Twinings

Twinings was founded by Thomas Twining in 1706 at 216 Strand, London, where the original shop still operates today, making it the world's oldest continuously operating tea shop. The Twining family ran the business for nine generations and Stephen Twining is the current ambassador. Twinings was granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1837 and supplies tea to the UK Royal Household today.

  • How Does Twinings Mint Green Tea, 20 Tea Bags 40g Compare to:

    • Pukka Peppermint: Twinings Mint Green Tea, 20 Tea Bags 40g offers a more distinct flavour profile and competitive pricing versus the mass market alternative; the difference is most noticeable in the second half of the cup when Pukka Peppermint starts to thin out.
    • Clipper Peppermint: where Clipper Peppermint leans into a single dominant note, Twinings Mint Green Tea, 20 Tea Bags 40g delivers a more balanced and aromatic experience designed for daily drinking rather than as an occasional treat.
    • Yogi Pure Mint: both occupy a similar price band and shelf position, but Twinings Mint Green Tea, 20 Tea Bags 40g differentiates through its certified sourcing, ethical packaging and the Twinings brand heritage outlined above.

    brew.

  • Botanical Authenticity: We maintain long term relationships with growers to ensure the technical integrity of the steamed tea leaves and real Peppermint.

Ideal Brewing Conditions:

  • Brew it Hot: Boil the kettle then allow the water to cool for about 2 minutes to around 80 degrees Celsius to protect the delicate leaves.

  • Thermal Integrity: Do not use fully boiling water as this can scald the Green Tea and create immediate bitterness.

  • Steep Time: Steep for 2 to 3 minutes maximum then remove the bag to achieve the perfect crisp balance.

The Tea Master Brewing Instructions:

  • Measure: Place one individual tea bag in your favourite cup or pre warmed mug.

  • Pour: Add 200 millilitre of hot water at 80 degrees Celsius directly over the bag to activate the Menthol oils.

  • Steep: Wait for 2 minutes to allow the natural Peppermint and Mint flavouring to fully hydrate.

  • Enjoy: Best savoured plain for a clean lift although it is exceptional when served as a chilled summer refresh.

The Tea Master Secret (Cold Brew & Iced Tea):

  • Iced Mint Cooler: Brew a strong hot infusion using two bags in 150 millilitre of water. Once steeped allow to cool completely then pour into a tall glass filled with ice. Add a slice of lime and a sprig of fresh Mint for the ultimate summer refresher.

  • Mint Green Spritz: Brew one bag in 100 millilitre of hot water for 3 minutes. Once cooled top with sparkling water and a touch of lime. The carbonation highlights the cooling Menthol notes for a bracing and sophisticated non alcoholic refreshment.
