Nothing in this box is a drink. That is the sentence to read twice, because a Tassimo milk box looks like every other box in the range and contains half of something: sixteen milk discs and no coffee anywhere. Buy it knowing what you intend to put beside it. What people actually use it for is more ordinary than the packaging suggests, a second milk disc to fill a bigger mug, a white coffee made from a black disc already in the drawer, or simply warm milk for a child while the adults have their coffee. The milk goes in first and the coffee after it, into a wide cup rather than a tall one, and leave the head alone once it is there. It contains dairy, so it is neither vegan nor any use to somebody avoiding milk, and there is no plant version of it in this format. Tassimo machines only. The Story Behind Tassimo
Tassimo is the disc system rather than a coffee brand, which is why boxes on the shelf carry two names: Kenco, Costa, L'Or or Cadbury supply the recipe, Tassimo supplies the machine and the disc. Each T DISC has a barcode printed on it, and the machine reads that code to set the water volume and the brew for that particular drink rather than running every disc identically. A milk disc carries its own code, which is why the machine treats it differently from a coffee disc and why the order the two go in matters. A box of milk discs sold on its own exists because the system is modular underneath, even though the shelf mostly presents it in fixed pairs.

How to make Build Your Own Flat White with Tassimo Milk.
- 1 Tassimo Milk disc
- 1 black Tassimo coffee disc
- A small wide cup, pre-warmed
- Warm the cup with hot water and tip it out.
- Brew the Tassimo Milk disc into the cup first.
- Brew the coffee disc straight through it, in the same cup.
- Leave it unstirred. The foam cap is part of the drink.
What you'll end up with: A small, coffee-forward milk drink. Keeping the cup small is the only thing standing between a flat white and a weak latte.
The Big Milky Mug

- 1 Tassimo Milk disc
- 1 long black or americano Tassimo disc
- A large mug, pre-warmed
- Brew the milk disc into the warmed mug.
- Brew a long black disc over it for volume.
- Choose a darker coffee disc if you have one. A light roast vanishes at this size.
- Serve straight away, before the extra volume loses its heat.
What you'll end up with: The mug-sized milky coffee the boxed pairs never quite make. Softer than a flat white, and the honest trade is that the coffee reads fainter.

- A tall glass filled to the top with ice
- Fill the glass with ice properly. A half-filled glass melts into a weak drink within a minute.
- Brew the milk disc over the ice and let it settle.
- Brew the coffee disc slowly over the top so it layers rather than mixes.
- Serve unstirred and let the drinker mix it.

- A wide cup, pre-warmed
- Brew the milk disc into the warmed cup.
