A latte macchiato is mostly milk, so a weak coffee base disappears into it entirely and you end up drinking warm sweetened milk. A stronger espresso base pushes through, and you get an actual coffee flavour in the middle of the glass instead of a suggestion of one.

The Story Behind Tassimo and L'OR
Tassimo is the disc system rather than the coffee brand, which is why the box carries two names. Each T DISC has a barcode printed on it and the machine reads that code to set the water volume and the brew, so a milk disc and an espresso disc are handled differently in the same machine without you touching a setting. L'OR supplies the coffee, and its house position is espresso-led: darker, rounder and stronger than the mild end of the range.
