Tassimo is a licensing platform as much as a machine. Instead of one house range it carries other companies' names on its discs, which is why the same machine will make an L'OR americano, a Costa latte, a Kenco cappuccino and a Cadbury hot chocolate. L'OR is the name on the discs here, and what it is selling in this box is a named origin rather than a house blend, which is unusual for the format and is the reason to pick it over a generic black coffee disc.

- Water: filtered, if your area is hard. Minerals flatten the cocoa notes that are the whole point of a Brazilian coffee, and they scale the machine while they do it.
- Drink it fresh: a long black coffee left standing goes flat and papery within ten minutes. Brew it when you are ready to drink it.
Getting More Out of the Box
- Make it bigger: run two discs into one large mug rather than trying to stretch one. Two discs in a mug is a proper large coffee; one disc in a mug is a weak one.
- Make it white: add a splash of hot milk after the disc has run rather than brewing into milk. A Brazilian coffee takes milk well because there is body to read through it.
- Make it iced: brew two discs into a jug, cool for a minute, then pour over a full glass of ice. Brewing onto ice dilutes the coffee as it lands.
- Make it a mocha: stir a teaspoon of cocoa to a paste in the bottom of the cup first, then brew over it. The origin already leans chocolate, so this works better here than it would with a bright coffee.

Iced Long Black

- 2 L'OR Americano T DISCs
- A full glass of ice
- A small jug
- Brew two discs into a jug rather than one into a glass. You want concentration before dilution.
- Let it stand a minute so it is warm rather than hot.
- Pour over a full glass of ice. A half-filled glass melts faster and waters the drink down.
What you'll end up with: Cleaner and slightly brighter than the hot cup, because cold suppresses body more than acidity. Two discs is what keeps it from tasting hollow.
