How to make the straight flat white with Tassimo Kenco Flat White.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- A pre-warmed cup
- Fresh water in the tank
- Warm the cup with a water-only cycle and tip it away; a milk drink shows a cold cup faster than a black one.
- Brew the milk disc first and let the cycle finish.
- Swap promptly to the coffee disc and brew it straight onto the milk.
- Do not stir. The layers settle into each other within a few seconds on their own.
What you'll end up with: A soft, rounded milk coffee with a thin layer of foam and the coffee underneath rather than on top, made without a jug or a wand.
Iced Flat White
How to make an iced flat white with Tassimo Kenco Flat White.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- A glass packed to the top with ice
- Sugar syrup, optional
- Fill the glass right to the top with ice; over a few cubes this is just warm milky coffee.
- Add the syrup now if you are using it, because it will not mix in once everything is cold.
- Brew both discs straight over the ice, milk first as usual.
- Stir once, gently, and drink it immediately before it separates.
What you'll end up with: A cold milk coffee with the texture still intact, which is what you lose if you let a hot one cool on the side instead.
Salted Caramel Flat White
How to make a salted caramel flat white with Tassimo Kenco Flat White.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- 2 teaspoons caramel sauce
- A pinch of flaky salt
- Put the caramel sauce in the bottom of the warmed cup before you brew anything.
- Brew the milk disc straight onto it, which mixes the caramel through as it lands.
- Brew the coffee disc on top.
- Finish with a pinch of flaky salt across the surface.
What you'll end up with: The coffee-shop caramel drink without the queue or the price, and with less sugar in it than the shop version because you put the caramel in yourself.
Mocha Flat White
How to make a mocha flat white with Tassimo Kenco Flat White.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- 2 teaspoons drinking chocolate
- A splash of hot water
- Mix the drinking chocolate to a smooth paste in the bottom of the cup with a splash of hot water; lumps at this stage stay lumps.
- Brew the milk disc onto the paste.
- Brew the coffee disc on top of that.
- Grate a little dark chocolate over the surface if you want it to look like the shop version.
What you'll end up with: A mocha where the chocolate is mixed through the milk rather than sitting in a lump at the bottom, which is what happens when you stir it in at the end.
Cinnamon Afternoon Cup
How to make a cinnamon flat white with Tassimo Kenco Flat White.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- A quarter teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Half a teaspoon soft brown sugar, optional
- Put the cinnamon and the sugar, if using, in the bottom of the warmed cup.
- Brew the milk disc onto them so the spice disperses through the milk.
- Brew the coffee disc on top.
- Dust a little more cinnamon over the surface to catch the aroma as you lift the cup.
What you'll end up with: A warm, spiced milk coffee for a cold afternoon, with the cinnamon carried through the whole cup rather than floating on top.
Flat White Float
How to make a flat white float with Tassimo Kenco Flat White.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
- Grated dark chocolate
- Brew both discs into a heatproof glass in the usual order and let it stand for two minutes so it is hot rather than scalding.
- Lower a scoop of vanilla ice cream in gently rather than dropping it.
- Grate dark chocolate over the top.
- Eat the top with a spoon and drink the rest.
