Do not stir it. The Story Behind The Discs
Kenco is a long-standing British coffee name, and this is its cappuccino for the Tassimo machine. Tassimo is the Bosch single-serve system, and the barcode on each disc is what makes the drink possible: the machine scans the code, brews to it, and then does something completely different for the second disc a moment later. A cappuccino is the most demanding drink in a coffee shop to make by hand, because the foam has to be built with a steam wand and the person holding the jug has to know what they are doing. Here it comes out of a sealed disc, which is a reasonable trade for anybody who wants one at home at nine in the evening. - A wide pre-warmed cup
- Fresh water in the tank
- Warm a wide cup with a water-only cycle and tip it away; width gives the foam room to spread.
- Brew the milk disc first and let the cycle run out.
- Swap quickly to the coffee disc and brew it straight on top, before the foam has settled.
- Do not stir. Drink through the cap rather than past it.
What you'll end up with: A light, airy milk coffee with a proper foam cap and the coffee held gently underneath, which is exactly what a cappuccino is supposed to be.
Cocoa-Dusted Weekend Cappuccino
How to make a cocoa-dusted cappuccino with Tassimo Kenco Cappuccino.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- Cocoa powder to dust
- A small sieve
- Brew the pair in the usual order into a wide warmed cup.
- Hold a small sieve a hand's width above the cup and tap cocoa through it so it lands evenly rather than in a heap.
- Do not stir; the cocoa is meant to sit on the foam, which is where you will smell it.
- Drink it while the cap is still standing.

How to make an iced cappuccino with Tassimo Kenco Cappuccino.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- A glass packed to the top with ice
- Sugar syrup, optional
- Fill the glass right up with ice; a milk drink over a few cubes is just tepid coffee.
- Add any syrup now, while there is still something warm for it to dissolve into.
- Brew both discs straight over the ice in the usual order.
- Drink it at once, before the foam melts down into the milk.
What you'll end up with: A cold cappuccino that still has some air in it, which is what separates it from a glass of cold milky coffee.
Vanilla Cappuccino
How to make a vanilla cappuccino with Tassimo Kenco Cappuccino.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- Half a teaspoon vanilla extract
- Half a teaspoon sugar, optional
- Put the vanilla and the sugar, if using, in the bottom of the warmed cup.
- Brew the milk disc onto them so they disperse through the milk as it lands.
- Brew the coffee disc on top.
- Leave it unstirred; everything is already mixed where it needs to be.
What you'll end up with: A vanilla milk coffee that tastes of vanilla rather than of syrup, because half a teaspoon of extract does what three pumps of sweet syrup cannot.
The Stronger Cappuccino
How to make a stronger cappuccino with Tassimo Kenco Cappuccino.
- 1 black coffee disc from another Tassimo box
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- A large wide cup
- Brew the black coffee disc into the bottom of a large warmed cup first.
- Brew the milk disc on top of it.
- Brew the cappuccino coffee disc last, as usual.
- Use a larger cup than normal or you will be mopping the worktop.
What you'll end up with: A cappuccino with a proper coffee backbone, for anyone who finds the standard pairing too gentle, using one spare disc from a black coffee box.
Cappuccino Affogato
How to make a cappuccino affogato with Tassimo Kenco Cappuccino.
- 1 milk disc
- 1 coffee disc
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- Grated dark chocolate
- Put two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a cold bowl.
- Brew the pair into a jug rather than onto the ice cream, so you can pour with some control.
- Pour about half of it over the ice cream and let the foam sit on top.
- Grate dark chocolate over and eat it immediately.
What you'll end up with: A softer affogato than the black coffee version, where the milk rounds off the shock of hot on cold and the foam holds the chocolate in place.
