Nescafe Cappuccino Instant Coffee, 7 Sachets
The foam is what you are buying here. Set against an espresso-and-steamed-milk cappuccino this will always lose; set against a mug of instant with cold milk sloshed into it, which is what it is actually competing with, it wins comfortably. The head is what turns hot brown liquid into a drink, and it arrives while you stir rather than while you pour, which is why an impatient spoon is the commonest reason somebody decides these are not for them. Sweetened through the middle, mild underneath, almost no bitterness, and no fridge involved anywhere in the business. It has sat in British desk drawers, caravans and hotel rooms for years without needing to change, which in this format counts as a recommendation.
Nescafe Cappuccino Instant Coffee, in brief.
Nescafé Cappuccino Instant Coffee is the foaming single-serve sachet, seven to a pack and one mug from each, picked into the Teas.co.uk curator selection as the whole drink in a strip of paper for anywhere there is a kettle and no milk.
It is the desk, caravan and hotel-room pack rather than a substitute for an espresso machine. If you take coffee without sugar, the Unsweetened Taste version of the same sachet is the one to buy instead.
Nescafé Cappuccino Instant Coffee is the foaming sachet that most British kitchens have met at some point, seven of them to a pack, one mug from each. It is a whole drink in a strip of paper: coffee, a milk element and the foam, all of it made up with hot water and a spoon. No machine, no milk to heat, no jug to wash.
It is worth being plain about what this is for. A cappuccino sachet is not an attempt to imitate the espresso-and-steamed-milk drink it borrows its name from, and judged against that it will always lose. Judged against what it is actually competing with, which is a mug of instant with cold milk sloshed in, it wins comfortably. It is the pack you keep at a desk, in a caravan, in a hotel room or in an office drawer, and the foam on top is most of the point.

The Story Behind Nescafé
Nescafé is the coffee arm of Nestlé and the brand that made soluble coffee a normal thing to keep in a cupboard rather than a wartime substitute. The single-serve milk sachet is a later idea and a distinctly practical one: it exists because most people drink coffee with milk, and because carrying milk about is the hard part. Put the milk into the powder and the drink travels.
Where this listing says a thing is on the pack, that is because it is genuinely knowable from the pack and not from us.
Packaging: Follow the current UK pack and local-authority guidance; components can require different disposal routes.
What You Are Actually Buying
- Count: seven sachets, one mug each. Roughly a week of one-a-day, which is the arithmetic the pack size is built around.
- Sweetened: yes. If that is the wrong answer for you, the Nescafé Cappuccino Unsweetened Taste pack is the same drink without it.
- What it is not: not a pod, not a decaf and not a barista kit. It is a powder mix that needs a kettle and nothing else.
Ideal Serving Conditions
Foam is the entire reason to buy a cappuccino sachet and it is also the thing people most often fail to get. It is not luck. The foam is built by the powder hitting water at the right temperature and being agitated, so water that is too hot, a mug that is too full, or a lazy stir will each flatten it on their own. None of this requires equipment.
The Standard Mug
- Water: let the kettle stand for about half a minute after it clicks, so you are pouring at roughly 90 degrees Celsius rather than at a rolling boil. Boiling water is the most common foam killer.
- Volume: around 180ml. A 300ml mug filled to the top gives you a thin drink and a thin head.
- Order: powder first, then a splash of water, then stir to a paste, then the rest. Dissolving in stages is what stops sludge at the bottom.
- Stir: briskly, for several seconds. The foam is made by stirring, not by pouring.
Two Ways To Change It
- For a bigger head: make it in a lidded jar or a cafetiere. Ten seconds of shaking, or ten plunges, will roughly double the foam compared with a spoon.
- For a richer mug: paste the sachet with 40ml of hot water and top with 140ml of hot milk. It stops being a cappuccino and becomes something closer to a flat white, which is a fair trade if you have milk to hand.
Getting It Right in the Cup
- Water temperature: about 90 degrees Celsius. Our recommendation, not a pack instruction.
- Measure: one whole sachet. Splitting it does not make a lighter drink, it makes a worse one.
- Volume: 180ml. Mug size is part of the recipe on any sachet product.
- Sugar: taste before you add any. This version is sweetened already.
- Storage: sealed, dry, in a cupboard rather than beside the kettle. Instant powder draws moisture out of the air, and a damp sachet clumps and loses its foam.
- Best with: a mid-morning break, a biscuit, a desk, a caravan, or anywhere there is a kettle and no milk.

The taste profile
How does it compare
Nescafe Cappuccino Instant Coffee, 7 Sachets is a fixed recipe in a strip, so everything interesting happens in how you make it up and what you put it next to. Six builds below, starting with the mug the sachet was designed for and ending with two that treat it as a store-cupboard ingredient.
Made with this tea
The Standard Mug
How to make The Standard Mug with Nescafé Cappuccino.
- 1 sachet Nescafé Cappuccino
- 180ml hot water, about 90°C
- A spoon and a bit of energy
- Tip the whole sachet into a mug and add about 40ml of the hot water.
- Stir to a smooth paste with no dry powder left before you add anything else.
- Top up to roughly 180ml and stir briskly for several seconds to raise the head.
What you'll end up with: The drink as designed, with a proper head on it. Half a minute of kettle-standing and a brisk stir are worth more here than any equipment.
The Jar Shake, For Twice The Foam
How to make The Jar Shake, For Twice The Foam with Nescafé Cappuccino.
- 1 sachet Nescafé Cappuccino
- 180ml hot water, about 90°C
- A jar with a tight lid, or a cafetiere
- Dissolve the sachet in 40ml of hot water in the bottom of the jar.
- Add the rest of the water, close the lid firmly and shake hard for ten seconds. In a cafetiere, plunge quickly ten times instead.
- Pour into a warmed mug, spooning the foam on last.
What you'll end up with: Roughly double the head a spoon gives you. Mind the pressure in a sealed jar of hot liquid and hold the lid down as you shake.
Half Water, Half Milk
How to make Half Water, Half Milk with Nescafé Cappuccino.
- 1 sachet Nescafé Cappuccino
- 40ml hot water
- 140ml hot milk, dairy or oat
- Paste the sachet with 40ml of hot water until it is completely smooth.
- Heat 140ml of milk and pour it in slowly, stirring as you go.
- Drink it while it is hot; this version cools faster than the water-only mug.
What you'll end up with: Something closer to a flat white than a cappuccino. Heavier and rounder, with much less foam, which is a fair trade when there is milk in the fridge.
Iced Cappuccino
How to make Iced Cappuccino with Nescafé Cappuccino.
- 1 sachet Nescafé Cappuccino
- 50ml hot water
- A full glass of ice
- 150ml cold milk
- Dissolve the sachet in 50ml of hot water, stirring until nothing gritty remains.
- Cool for a minute so it does not melt the ice on contact.
- Pour over a full glass of ice and top with cold milk.
What you'll end up with: A cold coffee with no machine involved. Never tip the powder straight into cold liquid; it clumps and stays clumped.
Coffee Foam For A Hot Chocolate
How to make Coffee Foam For A Hot Chocolate with Nescafé Cappuccino.
- 1 sachet Nescafé Cappuccino
- 60ml hot water
- 1 mug of hot chocolate, made as usual
- Make your hot chocolate in a mug and leave room at the top.
- Whisk the cappuccino sachet into 60ml of hot water until it foams up hard.
- Spoon the foam over the hot chocolate and pour the liquid underneath down the side.
What you'll end up with: A mocha with a coffee-flavoured head, built from one sachet and whatever chocolate you already have.
Coffee Buttercream, The Cheat's Version
How to make Coffee Buttercream, The Cheat's Version with Nescafé Cappuccino.
- 1 sachet Nescafé Cappuccino
- 1 tablespoon boiling water
- 100g soft butter
- 200g icing sugar
- Dissolve the sachet in 1 tablespoon of boiling water to make a thick paste and let it cool.
- Beat 100g of soft butter with 200g of sifted icing sugar until pale.
- Add the cooled coffee paste and beat again until it is evenly coloured.
What you'll end up with: A milky coffee buttercream with no separate coffee to brew. The milk element in the sachet softens it compared with using plain instant granules.

Sourcing & blend. Nescafe Cappuccino Instant Coffee, 7 Sachets is made by Nescafé, the coffee arm of Nestlé and the brand that made soluble coffee an ordinary cupboard item rather than a substitute. The single-serve milk sachet is a later and very practical idea: most people drink coffee with milk, and milk is the awkward part to carry, so the milk goes into the powder and the drink travels. Green coffee origin, bean ratio and milk-solids content are not declared to us for this pack, so we do not describe them. We have run no brewing trials on this product and hold no brand specification sheet; the sensory notes are our own editorial assessment of the pack format and the brand's published description.
What's in Nescafe Cappuccino Instant Coffee, 7 Sachets:
- In: a single-serve powder mix of instant coffee, a milk or whitener component, a foaming component and a sweetening component, made up with hot water alone.
