The Proper Hot Cup Of Twinings Pure Green Tea (80C, 2 Minutes)

Plain Green Tea has nowhere to hide, so brewing it well matters. Let the boiled kettle drop to around 80C, give the bag two minutes and no more, and Twinings Pure Green Tea comes out grassy and rounded rather than bitter. This is the cup to drink without milk or sugar, the way you would taste any good green.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Twinings Pure Green Tea
  • 200ml freshly boiled water, cooled for about a minute (around 80C)
  • A slice of lemon, to taste (optional)

Method

  1. Boil the kettle, then let it stand for about a minute so the water drops to around 80C.
  2. Pop the bag into your cup and pour the water over.
  3. Steep for 2 minutes, no longer, to keep it smooth.
  4. Lift out the bag without squeezing it, add a slice of lemon if you like, and enjoy.
  5. Pure green tea without any additions is the best way to judge the quality of the leaf; try it without lemon on the first cup.
What you'll end up with: A grassy, well rounded green tea, brewed cool enough to stay clear of bitterness, best enjoyed just as it is.
