Red Fruit Tea Cordial
A homemade red fruit tea cordial: brew the tea strong, sweeten and sharpen it with lemon, then bottle it to dilute with sparkling water whenever you like.

This turns the red fruits tea into a homemade cordial you can keep in the fridge and dilute whenever you fancy a fruit drink. Brew it really strong, dissolve in plenty of sugar while it is hot, sharpen it with lemon, then bottle it.

To serve, top a little cordial with sparkling water, about one part cordial to five of water. Makes a 500ml bottle, enough for around twenty glasses.
You'll need
- 4 tea bags of Lipton Black Tea Red Fruits with French Strawberries
- 500ml just off boil water (95C)
- 200g caster sugar
- 50ml fresh lemon juice
- 1 sterilised 500ml glass bottle
Method
- Brew four tea bags in 500ml of just boiled water for six minutes, then lift them out.
- Stir in the sugar while the tea is hot, until it fully dissolves.
- Stir in the lemon juice, then let it cool to room temperature.
- Pour into a sterilised bottle, seal, and keep in the fridge; it lasts about two weeks.
- To serve, pour one part cordial to about five parts sparkling water over ice.
- Dissolve the sugar while the tea is still hot; it will not fully dissolve once the cordial has cooled.
