The recipe

Exact quantities, then the method.

This breakfast compote simmers apple and pear in a strong brew of Twinings Orange and Cinnamon, so the fruit soaks up warm orange and cinnamon as it softens. Spoon it over yoghurt, porridge or granola, warm on a cold morning or chilled in summer.

⏱ 15 min 🍽 Makes about 4 servings 📊 Easy 📚 Biscuit Recipes

You'll need

  • 3 tea bags of Twinings Orange and Cinnamon
  • 200ml freshly boiled water (100C)
  • 2 apples and 2 pears, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons honey, or to taste
  • A strip of orange peel
  • Yoghurt, porridge or granola, to serve

Method

  1. Steep the 3 tea bags in the boiled water for 5 minutes to make a strong brew, then lift them out.
  2. Put the apple, pear and honey in a pan, pour over the spiced tea and add the orange peel.
  3. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the fruit is soft and the liquid is syrupy.
  4. Remove the orange peel and take off the heat. Leave to cool a little.
  5. Spoon warm or chilled over yoghurt, porridge or granola.
  6. Pears soften faster than apple; add them for the last 8 minutes, not the full 12, so both fruits keep some texture.
What you'll end up with: A warm, spiced apple and pear compote scented with orange and cinnamon, good over yoghurt or porridge.
