Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin Ground Coffee, 250g
Colombia is the shape most British drinkers already have in their heads when they think of coffee: medium body, a gentle acidity that reads as sweetness, cocoa and soft nut underneath, nothing sticking out at the edges. That is an achievement rather than an absence, and it is what lets a house drink four mugs of it across a day without tiring of it. It arrives ready ground, and the aroma has been on a clock since the seal went on, which is the quiet cost of not owning a grinder.
Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin Ground Coffee, in brief.
Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin Ground Coffee is a 250g bag of ready-ground Colombian coffee from the Swedish family roaster, picked into the Teas.co.uk curator selection as the single origin you can drink every morning rather than one that needs a project attached to it.
Colombia is the balanced middle of the coffee world, between bright East African and heavy Brazilian, which makes this very hard to dislike and very hard to get badly wrong. No grinder needed, and it suits a filter basket as readily as a cafetiere.
The first is that it is already ground, so the packer decided the grind and the clock started when the bag was sealed. That is a convenience with a cost, and the cost is aroma. The second is that it is Swedish. Sweden drinks more coffee per head than almost anywhere, and Nordic roasting has traditionally run lighter than the Italian style most British shelves are stocked with.

The Story Behind Löfbergs
Löfbergs is a Swedish family coffee roaster, and Swedish coffee culture is a genuinely different thing from the Italian one that shaped most British assumptions about what coffee should taste like. Sweden drinks coffee by the mug rather than by the thimble, filtered and black more often than as espresso, and several times a day as a social fixture rather than a functional jolt. Roasting in that tradition has generally run lighter, because a lighter roast survives being drunk in volume where a dark one becomes wearing.
Colombia is the origin most roasters reach for when they want something that will not divide opinion. It sits between the bright, floral East African coffees and the heavy, nutty Brazilian ones, with a balance and a gentle sweetness that make it the standard against which other origins get described. That is what you are buying here: not a coffee that will astonish anyone, but one that is very hard to dislike and very hard to get badly wrong.
The tasting profile above is our own editorial assessment against the current pack format and the brand's published description. Löfbergs produces separate organic and certified lines, so we do not assume anything about this bag from those sibling products.

What You Are Actually Buying
- Weight: 250g, already ground. On a cafetiere dose of about 12g per 200ml that is roughly 20 cups, a figure worked out from the pack weight rather than a manufacturer claim.
- Smaller cups: Brew smaller cups at 7g and the bag stretches to about 35, which is the same coffee measured a different way.
- Ground, not beans: no grinder needed. The trade-off is that ground coffee starts losing aromatics the day the bag is opened.
- Single origin: Colombia, not a blend. What you taste is one country rather than a roaster balancing three against each other.
Getting It Right in the Cup
- Water temperature: about 93 degrees, half a minute off the boil.
- Dose: about 12g per 200ml for a mug, or 7g for a small cup.
- Time: four minutes in a cafetiere, stirred at one minute, then plunged and decanted.
- Storage: sealed, cool, dark and dry, and use it faster than you would beans.
- Best with: a morning filter jug, a household that drinks coffee all day, or anyone who wants a single origin without a project attached.

The taste profile
How does it compare
A balanced coffee is forgiving, which is not the same as being improved by carelessness. Four things get you most of the way.
The Cafetiere Method
Getting More Out of the Bag
Made with this tea
The Cafetiere Mug
How to make The Cafetiere Mug with Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin.
- 12g Löfbergs Colombia ground coffee
- 200ml water at about 93 degrees
- A spoon, for the crust
- Pour 200ml of water half a minute off the boil over 12g of grounds.
- Stir the floating crust under at the one-minute mark.
- Wait four minutes in total, then plunge slowly.
- Decant the whole jug so the coffee stops extracting.
What you'll end up with: A balanced medium-bodied mug. Stirring the crust is the step people skip, and it is worth more than another spoonful of coffee.
The Swedish Filter Jug
How to make The Swedish Filter Jug with Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin.
- 48g Löfbergs Colombia ground coffee
- 800ml filtered water
- A filter machine and a paper
- Rinse the paper with hot water and empty the jug before you start.
- Level 48g of grounds in the basket and run 800ml through.
- Pour the whole jug into a vacuum flask rather than leaving it on the hotplate.
- Drink it black, by the mug, through the morning.
What you'll end up with: Coffee as Sweden drinks it. The flask matters: a hotplate keeps cooking the coffee and is why office filter jugs taste burnt by eleven.
Pour-Over
How to make Pour-Over with Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin.
- 18g Löfbergs Colombia ground coffee
- 300ml water at about 93 degrees
- A cone and a filter paper
- Rinse the paper and throw that water away.
- Bloom 18g of grounds with 50ml and wait thirty seconds.
- Pour the remaining 250ml slowly in circles over about two and a half minutes.
What you'll end up with: A cleaner, lighter version than the cafetiere gives, with the gentle acidity more obvious. A pre-ground bag will not be optimal here, but it works.
Fridge Cold Brew
How to make Fridge Cold Brew with Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin.
- 60g Löfbergs Colombia ground coffee
- 1 litre cold water
- A jug with a lid and a filter paper
- Stir 60g of grounds into a litre of cold water.
- Cover and leave in the fridge for twelve hours.
- Strain through a filter paper slowly, without squeezing the bed.
- Keep it sealed in the fridge for up to five days.
What you'll end up with: Colombia cold brews into something sweet and extremely easy to drink. This is the build to make on a Sunday night for the week.
Iced Latte
How to make Iced Latte with Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin.
- 120ml cold brew from the build above
- A glass of ice
- 150ml cold whole or oat milk
- Fill a glass with ice and pour in 120ml of cold brew.
- Top with cold milk, poured slowly so it layers first.
- Stir from the bottom and drink before the ice thins it.
What you'll end up with: Cold brew has the sweetness to carry milk that a hot brew of the same bag would not. Made from a hot cafetiere it tastes thin.
Coffee and Cardamom Bun Soak
How to make Coffee and Cardamom Bun Soak with Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin.
- 200ml strong brewed Löfbergs Colombia
- 80g caster sugar
- 6 shop-bought cardamom or cinnamon buns
- A teaspoon of ground cardamom
- Brew 200ml strong in the cafetiere at double dose.
- Simmer it with the sugar and the cardamom for five minutes to a light syrup.
- Brush the warm syrup generously over the buns and let it soak in.
- Warm them through in the oven for five minutes before serving.
What you'll end up with: The Swedish coffee break, assembled from a supermarket. A balanced Colombian syrup works here where a bitter dark roast would fight the cardamom.

Characterising components shown.
Sourcing & blend. Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin Ground Coffee, 250g is a single origin rather than a blend, from a Swedish family coffee roaster. Swedish coffee culture is a genuinely different thing from the Italian one that shaped most British assumptions about coffee: it is drunk by the mug rather than the thimble, filtered and black more often than as espresso, and several times a day as a social fixture rather than a functional jolt. Roasting in that tradition has generally run lighter, because a lighter roast survives being drunk in volume where a dark one becomes wearing. Löfbergs also produces separate organic and certified lines, and we deliberately make no inference from those sibling products to this bag.
What's in Löfbergs Colombia Single Origin Ground Coffee, 250g, and what isn't:
- In: roasted, ground Colombian coffee and nothing else, brewed with hot water in a cafetiere, a filter machine or a pour-over cone.
- Not a blend: one origin, so the cup tastes of one country rather than of a roaster balancing three against each other.
- Already ground: convenient, and the trade-off is aroma. Ground coffee loses volatiles from the day the bag is opened, so keep it sealed and use it faster than beans.
- Packaging: follow the current UK pack and your local-authority guidance; the bag, any valve and any inner liner can take different disposal routes.
