Ginger Green Tea Hot Toddy (Twinings)
A lighter whisky toddy built on Twinings Ginger Green Tea, with honey, lemon and a real ginger warmth.

A toddy does not have to be heavy. Build one on Twinings Ginger Green Tea and the green leaf keeps things bright while the ginger does the warming, with honey to soften it and a measure of whisky to make it the real thing. Brew the tea at around 80C so the green stays sweet rather than sharp.

You'll need
- 1 tea bag of Twinings Ginger Green Tea
- 200ml freshly boiled water, cooled for about a minute (around 80C)
- 35ml whisky
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 slices of lemon
Method
- Let the boiled water stand for about a minute, then steep the bag for 3 minutes and lift it out without squeezing.
- Stir the honey into the hot tea until it dissolves.
- Add the whisky and the juice of one lemon slice, and stir.
- Pour into a heatproof glass, drop in the second lemon slice, and serve warm.
- A blended Scotch or a lighter bourbon works better here than a peated single malt; the green tea note can get lost against heavy smoke.
