Builder Strength Tetley Decaf English Breakfast

Builder strength tea from a decaf bag, brewed strong and taken with milk for a full bodied cup with no caffeine.

Builder-Strength Tetley Decaf English Breakfast

This is builder's tea with the caffeine taken out: a proper strong, malty cup made from a decaf bag, treated exactly like the regular brew. Decaf English Breakfast keeps the deep amber colour and the body, it just loses the lift.

Treat it like any builder's brew. Taking the caffeine out does not change the method, so it still wants water at a full boil and a good long steep rather than a timid one.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Tetley Decaf English Breakfast
  • 200ml freshly boiled water (100C)
  • A generous splash of milk
  • Sugar to taste (optional)

Method

  1. Pour fully boiling water straight over the bag; decaf black tea still needs the heat to give up its strength.
  2. Steep for three to four minutes for an everyday cup, or a full five for builder strength.
  3. Press the bag on the side of the mug and lift it out, as a squeeze here adds body.
  4. Add a good splash of milk and sugar if you take it.
What you'll end up with: A deep amber, malty builder's cup with a milky finish and no caffeine, made for the evening.
