The most requested out of stock on the site just landed. Plus four new Tropical Sun varieties that haven't been available online in the UK before: bay leaf, cerassie, lemongrass single herb, and a new moringa blend. All in stock now, all properly described, all curator tasted.
Caribbean herbal teas are an underserved category in UK retail. Most chain stockists carry one or two soursop or sorrel SKUs and stop there. The full Caribbean herbal cupboard includes bay leaf (West Indian, smokier than Mediterranean), cerassie (the bitter Jamaican leaf used for centuries in island households), lemongrass (sharper and brighter than the Asian version), and moringa (a tropical leaf used as a general food rather than a tea in its native context). All four were difficult to source in the UK until recently.
Soursop is brewed from the dried leaves of the soursop fruit tree (Annona muricata, Caribbean native). The cup is mild, slightly grassy, with a hint of the fruit's sweetness. Brew at 95 degrees for four minutes for the full flavour. Stronger steeps bring out a tea like astringency that some drinkers like and some do not. We do not repeat the soursop health claim marketing seen in some corners; the science is well behind the headlines.
Bay leaf brewed as a single herb is a Caribbean staple: warm, slightly clove edged, drunk hot for breakfast or chilled with lime. Cerassie is intensely bitter and traditionally consumed cold brewed; we recommend two bags in a litre overnight in the fridge. Lemongrass single herb (versus the lemongrass and ginger blends that dominate UK shelves) is bright and clean. The new moringa blend pairs the leaf with mint and ginger to lift the slightly grassy bottom note.
All four sit in the Tropical Sun pricing band and ship in the standard Tropical Sun pyramid bag format. Bay leaf and cerassie are caffeine free. The new moringa blend is the most accessible of the four for someone who has not tried a Caribbean herbal range before: the mint and ginger soften the moringa's distinctive flavour into something more approachable.
