The Proper Hot Cup of Twinings Jasmine Green Tea (80C, 2 Minutes)

Twinings Jasmine Green Tea at 80C for two minutes, the floral note kept clear over a gentle leaf.

The Proper Hot Cup Of Twinings Jasmine Green Tea (80C, 2 Minutes)

Jasmine green is a perfumed tea, all about the floral aroma, so it pays to brew it gently. Let the kettle drop to around 80C, give the bag two minutes, and the jasmine lifts off a soft green leaf without any harshness. Scalding water flattens both the scent and the tea.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Twinings Jasmine Green Tea
  • 200ml freshly boiled water, cooled for about a minute (around 80C)
  • A little honey, to taste (optional)

Method

  1. Boil the kettle, then let it stand for about a minute so the water drops to around 80C.
  2. Pop the bag into your cup and pour the water over.
  3. Steep for 2 minutes, no longer, to keep the leaf soft and let the jasmine come through.
  4. Lift out the bag without squeezing it, add a little honey if you like, and enjoy.
  5. Jasmine green tea needs no sweetener; the floral note is naturally pleasant and honey can mask the delicacy of the jasmine.
What you'll end up with: A soft green tea carrying a clear, floral jasmine scent, brewed cool so it stays delicate rather than bitter.
