Iced Everyday Brew
A clear iced black tea from Teapigs Everyday Brew, brewed strong and short then crashed over ice so it never clouds over.

This is how to make iced Black Tea that stays clear instead of going murky, which is what trips most people up. Brew it strong and short, then crash it straight over ice rather than letting it cool slowly on the side; that slow cool is what clouds it.

It uses Teapigs Everyday Brew, a brisk whole leaf black tea. Five minutes plus chilling, and it makes a big jug.
You'll need
- 4 Teapigs Everyday Brew tea temples
- 500ml just boiled water
- 500ml cold water
- Plenty of ice
- 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar or honey, optional
- Lemon slices and mint, to serve
Method
- Steep the 4 tea temples in 500ml just boiled water for 4 minutes only. A short steep at double strength keeps it from turning bitter once diluted.
- Lift out the bags and stir in the sugar or honey while the tea is hot, if using.
- Immediately pour the hot concentrate over a large jug full of ice. Crashing it cold fast stops the cloudiness that slow cooling causes.
- Top up with the 500ml cold water and stir.
- Serve in ice filled glasses with lemon slices and mint.
- If it does go hazy, a small splash of just boiled water clears it again.
