Iced Chamomile Flowers

A gentle iced chamomile with a squeeze of lemon: whole flowers, covered brew, slow chill. Caffeine free.

Iced Chamomile Flowers

Iced chamomile makes a gentle, honeyed jug that's lovely with a little lemon on a warm evening. Whole chamomile flowers give it a real apple sweet body, and a covered brew followed by a slow chill keeps that soft aroma in the glass.

⏱ 10 min + chill 🍽 Serves 4 📊 Easy 📚 Iced Tea Recipes

You'll need

  • 4 Teapigs Chamomile Flowers tea temples
  • 500ml just boiled water
  • 500ml cold water
  • 1 tablespoon honey, optional
  • Lemon slices and ice, to serve

Method

  1. Pour the just boiled water over the 4 temples in a covered jug and steep 6 minutes; chamomile takes a generous steep and will not turn bitter.
  2. Lift the temples out and stir in the honey while the tea is warm, if using.
  3. Cool to room temperature, then chill. There is no tannin, so it stays clear without crashing over ice.
  4. Stir in the 500ml cold water.
  5. Serve over ice with lemon slices; the lemon lifts the honeyed chamomile.
  6. Caffeine free, so an easy evening drink. The brewed base keeps 3 days in the fridge.
What you'll end up with: A golden, honeyed iced chamomile brightened with lemon: soft, clear and caffeine free, an easy one for a warm evening.
