Warming Ginger Lemon Hot Toddy builds the classic winter drink on a strong brew of lemon-ginger tea, which gives it real citrus and ginger depth before any spirit goes in. Honey rounds it, a measure of whisky warms it, and it is a lovely thing to wrap your hands around on a cold night.

Serves one. Brew the tea strong, sweeten while hot, then add the whisky off the heat. It is just as good alcohol-free.
You'll need
- 1 tea bag of Tetley Lemon and Ginger
- 200ml freshly boiled water (100C)
- 25ml whisky (optional)
- 1 to 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 slice of lemon, plus extra to garnish
- Optional: a cinnamon stick
Method
- Brew strong: steep the bag in the freshly boiled water for 5 minutes, then lift it out.
- Stir in the honey while the tea is hot until it dissolves.
- Add the whisky and a slice of lemon, and stir.
- Garnish with lemon and a cinnamon stick. For an alcohol-free toddy, leave out the whisky.
