The recipe

Exact quantities, then the method.

Yogi Tea Organic Women's Energy is a warming spiced Ayurvedic-style blend of cinnamon, ginger and angelica root with cardamom and fenugreek. Brewed five minutes, it gives a caffeine-free golden cup with a proper chai-style warmth. Good on its own, or with a splash of milk like a caffeine-free chai.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Yogi Tea Organic Women's Energy
  • 300ml freshly boiled water (100C)
  • A splash of milk, optional
  • Honey, optional, to taste

Method

  1. Pop the tea bag in a big mug.
  2. Pour over the freshly boiled water and leave to steep for 5 minutes so the cinnamon, ginger and spice come through.
  3. Lift out the bag without squeezing it.
  4. Drink as it is for a clear golden cup, or add a splash of milk for a caffeine-free chai-style brew.
  5. A little honey rounds it off nicely. Sip warm.
  6. Add whole milk at a 1:1 ratio with the brewed tea; the spice blend is complex enough to work as a caffeine-free masala chai.
What you'll end up with: A warming, caffeine-free golden cup with a chai-style spice, good plain or with milk.
