Black Tea Affogato
A tea affogato: a hot concentrated shot of Teapigs Everyday Brew poured over cold vanilla ice cream. Two minute malty dessert.

This is an affogato made with strong Black Tea instead of espresso: a small, very concentrated shot of Teapigs Everyday Brew poured hot over cold vanilla ice cream, so it half melts into a malty, creamy pool. The maltiness of a good builder's tea sits surprisingly well against vanilla, a bit like tea and Biscuits turned into pudding.

It takes two minutes, has no coffee in it, and makes a proper grown up dessert for tea drinkers. One serving.
You'll need
- 2 Teapigs Everyday Brew tea temples
- 60ml just boiled water, for a very strong shot
- 2 small scoops good vanilla ice cream
- 1 teaspoon demerara sugar, optional
- A little grated dark chocolate or a biscuit, to serve
Method
- Steep the 2 tea temples in just 60ml of just boiled water for 4 minutes, for an intense, espresso strength shot. Little water and two bags is the key to enough punch to stand up to the ice cream.
- Squeeze out the bags and stir in the demerara, if using, while the shot is piping hot.
- Put two scoops of cold vanilla ice cream into a small glass, straight from the freezer so it is firm.
- Pour the hot tea shot over the ice cream at the table, so it starts melting on contact.
- Finish with grated dark chocolate or a crisp biscuit, and eat at once, while it is hot and cold together.
