Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Instant Coffee, Limited Edition, 4 x 24g
Buy it in autumn or wait a year: the Limited Edition flash on this pack is literal rather than marketing language, and the run goes quiet somewhere around February. That is the whole shape of it. People ask for this by name from September onwards, cannot find it in the new year, and are surprised by that every single time. Cinnamon does most of the work, the rest of the warm baking spice sits behind it, and the coffee stays politely out of the way, which is the right order for this particular drink even if it is the wrong order for a coffee. Four sachets makes this a short pack, so think of it as four Saturdays rather than a week of mornings. Anyone who takes coffee unsweetened should walk straight past, because the sweetness is blended in and cannot be dialled down. For everybody else it is the autumn order made at a kettle instead of a counter, and it survives that reduction better than most seasonal packs manage.
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Instant Coffee, in brief.
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Instant Coffee is the seasonal coffee-shop drink in a tear-open sachet, four 24g sachets to the pack, picked into the Teas.co.uk curator selection as the autumn treat you can make with a kettle instead of a queue.
It is a Limited Edition pack, so it comes with the autumn and goes again; if you want it, buy it while it is here rather than in February.
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Instant Coffee is the sachet version of the drink that starts the autumn queue in the coffee shops, made up at home with a kettle and a mug. Four sachets to a pack, one mug from each, and the pack carries a Limited Edition flash that on this product is not marketing language. It appears in the autumn and it goes again.
We have listed it because people ask for it by name from September onwards and then cannot find it in February. If you want it, buy it while it is on the shelf. There is nothing complicated in the pack: instant coffee, a milk element and a warm spice flavouring, mixed so that the whole drink comes out of one tear-open strip and the kettle does the rest.

The Story Behind Starbucks
Starbucks is a coffee house chain first and a grocery brand second. The retail packs exist so that a version of the counter drink can live in a kitchen cupboard, which gives them a narrow brief: taste close enough to the shop order that buying it for the house feels like the same decision. The Pumpkin Spice Latte is the most recognisable seasonal drink the chain sells, so it is the obvious one to put in a sachet.
A word about the name, because it misleads people every autumn. Pumpkin spice describes the spice mix that goes into a pumpkin pie, not a promise of pumpkin in your mug. Cinnamon does most of the work, with the rest of the warm baking spices behind it.
Packaging: Follow the current UK pack and local-authority guidance; components can require different disposal routes.
What You Are Actually Buying
- Count: four sachets. Four mugs, no more, so treat it as a fortnight of Saturdays rather than a week of mornings.
- Sachet size: 24g each, which is a substantial sachet. The pack therefore holds 96g of mix in total. That multiplication is ours, from the pack format, not a figure printed on the front.
- Season: Limited Edition. Stock is what we can buy, and when the autumn packs stop coming the listing goes quiet until the following year.
- What it is not: not a machine pod, not a syrup, and not a decaf. It is a single-serve powder mix and it needs nothing but hot water.
Ideal Serving Conditions
A powder sachet is not a brew, it is a rehydration, and almost every complaint about these packs comes down to water that was too hot or a mug that was too big. The milk element in a latte sachet does not enjoy a rolling boil; poured straight off the kettle it can turn grainy and the spice loses its lift. Thirty seconds of patience is the whole fix.
The Standard Mug
- Water: let the kettle stand for about half a minute after it clicks, so you are pouring at roughly 90 degrees Celsius.
- Volume: around 180ml, which is less than a big mug holds. Filling a 300ml mug to the brim is the single most common way to make this drink taste thin.
- Order: powder in first, then a small splash of hot water. Stir that to a smooth paste before the rest of the water goes in and you will not find powder at the bottom.
- Stir: properly, for a good few seconds. The foam builds as you stir, not as you pour.
If You Want It Richer, Or Colder
- Richer: make the paste with 40ml of hot water, then top with 140ml of hot milk instead of more water. The sachet already carries a milk element, so this doubles it rather than replacing it.
- Iced: paste with 50ml of hot water, stir until completely smooth, then pour over a full glass of ice and top with cold milk. Do not try to dissolve it in cold water; it will not go.
- Spiced up: a grating of fresh nutmeg on the foam costs nothing and sharpens a mix that is deliberately rounded.
Getting It Right in the Cup
- Water temperature: around 90 degrees Celsius. This is our serving recommendation, not a pack instruction.
- Measure: one whole sachet per mug. These are not designed to be split, and half a sachet makes a poor drink rather than a lighter one.
- Volume: 180ml. Treat the mug size as part of the recipe.
- Sugar: do not add any until you have tasted it. The mix is sweetened already.
- Storage: keep the sachets sealed and dry in a cupboard. Any instant powder pulls moisture out of the air, and a damp sachet clumps and tastes flat.
- Best with: an afternoon, a cold walk, a slice of something with cinnamon in it, or the first genuinely dark evening of the year.

The taste profile
How does it compare
Starbucks 4 x Pumpkin Spice Latte Instant Coffee, Limited Edition, 24g is a fixed recipe in a strip, so the interesting work is in what you build around it rather than in how you brew it. Six builds below, starting with the mug the sachet was designed for and ending with two that use it as a baking ingredient.
Made with this tea
The Standard Mug
How to make The Standard Mug with Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
- 1 sachet Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 180ml hot water, about 90°C
- A spoon, and a mug smaller than you think
- Tip the whole sachet into the mug and add a splash of the hot water, about 40ml.
- Stir to a smooth paste before adding anything else. This is the step people skip and then complain about.
- Top up to roughly 180ml and stir again for a few seconds to build the foam.
What you'll end up with: The drink as designed. Keep the mug small; volume is what dilutes this one, not temperature.
The Richer Mug, Made With Milk
How to make The Richer Mug, Made With Milk with Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
- 1 sachet Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 40ml hot water
- 140ml hot milk, dairy or oat
- Fresh nutmeg to grate over
- Paste the sachet with 40ml of hot water until completely smooth.
- Heat 140ml of milk and pour it in, holding back the foam with a spoon and spooning it on last.
- Grate a little fresh nutmeg over the top.
What you'll end up with: A heavier, rounder drink. The sachet already carries a milk element, so this doubles it rather than replacing it. Oat milk suits the spice better than almond, which thins it.
Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte
How to make Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte with Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
- 1 sachet Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 50ml hot water
- A full glass of ice
- 150ml cold milk
- Dissolve the sachet in 50ml of hot water and stir until there is nothing gritty left at all.
- Cool it for a minute so it does not melt the ice on contact.
- Pour over a full glass of ice and top with cold milk.
What you'll end up with: The version that works all through a warm September. Never try to dissolve the powder in cold liquid; it clumps and stays clumped.
Pumpkin Spice Affogato
How to make Pumpkin Spice Affogato with Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
- 1 sachet Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 60ml hot water
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- Mix the sachet with only 60ml of hot water, so you have a thick, strongly spiced pour rather than a drink.
- Scoop two balls of vanilla ice cream into a cold bowl.
- Pour the hot mix straight over the top and eat it immediately.
What you'll end up with: A pudding out of a sachet, and the best use of the last one in the box. The sweetness that can feel heavy in a mug is exactly right here.
Pumpkin Spice Overnight Oats
How to make Pumpkin Spice Overnight Oats with Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
- 1 sachet Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 50ml hot water
- 50g porridge oats
- 120ml cold milk
- Dissolve the sachet in 50ml of hot water and let it cool for five minutes.
- Stir it through 50g of oats with 120ml of cold milk in a jar.
- Chill overnight and eat cold. It needs no extra sugar.
What you'll end up with: Breakfast that tastes like the drink. The sachet is already sweetened, so this is one of the few overnight oats recipes that needs nothing adding.
Spiced Coffee Loaf Glaze
How to make Spiced Coffee Loaf Glaze with Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
- 1 sachet Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 2 tablespoons boiling water
- 150g icing sugar
- 1 plain loaf cake, cooled
- Dissolve the sachet in 2 tablespoons of boiling water to make a thick, dark paste.
- Beat it into 150g of sifted icing sugar, a little at a time, until it pours slowly off the spoon.
- Pour over a cooled plain loaf cake and leave it to set for half an hour.
What you'll end up with: A spiced coffee glaze with no separate spice jars to buy. Worth doing with the sachet that is left when the pack has gone out of season.
