Nescafé is Nestlé's instant coffee name and has been the default in British cupboards for generations. - Iced: dissolve in 50ml of hot water first, then pour over ice and cold milk. Never tip dry powder into cold milk.

- Water temperature: around 90 degrees Celsius, not straight off the boil.

- 1 sachet Nescafé Latte
- 2 drops vanilla extract
- 180ml water at about 90 degrees Celsius
- Make the mug as normal.
- Add two drops of vanilla extract at the end, not the beginning; heat drives it off.
- Taste before adding a third drop. Two is usually plenty.

- 1 sachet Nescafé Latte
- 50ml hot water
- A glass of ice
- 120ml cold milk
- Dissolve the sachet completely in 50ml of hot water. This one is not built for cold liquid, so do not skip it.
- Fill a glass with ice and cold milk.
- Pour the concentrate down the inside of the glass and stir once.
What you'll end up with: A plain iced latte with no syrup in it, which is genuinely hard to buy ready-made.
Kettle Mocha

- 1 sachet Nescafé Latte
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- Sugar to taste, optional
- 180ml water at about 90 degrees Celsius
- Combine the sachet and the cocoa in a dry mug.
- Paste with a splash of hot water; cocoa clumps worse than milk powder.
- Top up and taste before deciding whether it needs sugar. It usually needs a little.
