LCurator note · KitKat
Nobody buys white chocolate by accident. It is a preference people hold firmly and declare early, so a box of eight is a decision about one person in the house rather than about the house. Worth being clear on what it actually is: white chocolate carries cocoa butter, milk and sugar but none of the cocoa solids that make chocolate taste of chocolate, so the character comes from dairy and vanilla. Judge it as a creamy sweet rather than as a chocolate bar and the whole thing makes more sense. The wafer keeps it light, which is why it still works at eleven in the morning where a solid white bar of the same weight would sit heavily. It contains milk and the wafer is a wheat product, so it is out for anyone avoiding dairy or gluten, and nuts are a question for the label rather than for this page. It scores nearly as well as the plain bar despite being a minority taste, which tells you the people buying it are the people who wanted it.

About this product

KitKat 2 Finger White Biscuit Bars Multipack, in brief.

KitKat 2 Finger White is the white-coated version of the two-finger wafer bar, eight individually wrapped 20.7g bars in a 165.6g multipack.

The white coating is very sweet, with no dark cocoa note to it: serve it with a strong brew rather than a sweet one.

The coating is the whole story here, and it is worth being clear about what it is. The pack calls it a white coating rather than white chocolate: per the published ingredient list the bar is led by sugar and vegetable fats (palm, shea, sal, palm kernel), with milk powders and a little cocoa butter, which is why the coating is pale, very sweet and without any dark cocoa bitterness. That is either the reason to buy it or the reason not to, and it decides which drink belongs beside it.

Curator notes: the tasting profile is our own editorial assessment against the current pack format and the brand's published description. A wafer bar under a coating is arguably confectionery rather than a biscuit, and we say so plainly. We run same-day UK dispatch on every order placed before 2pm Monday to Friday. The Story Behind KitKat

KitKat is one of the most recognisable names on any British shelf, and the two-finger bar is the format that put it in lunchboxes rather than in newsagents. The white version is the variant that divides people: it is the same wafer and the same wrapped format, under a pale white coating instead of milk chocolate. People who like it like it a great deal, and people who do not usually object to the sweetness rather than the flavour.

It is worth saying plainly that a wafer bar under a chocolate shell is arguably confectionery rather than a biscuit. We file it under biscuits because that is where customers look for it and because it is eaten in the biscuit moment, beside a mug rather than out of a paper bag.

Packaging: Follow the current UK pack and local-authority guidance; components can require different disposal routes.

What You Are Actually Buying

  • Weight: one hundred and sixty-five point six grams across eight bars, which is twenty point seven grams each.
  • Count: eight individually wrapped bars, taken from the published pack description.

Ideal Serving Conditions

A wrapped bar asks nothing of you except a sensible drink and a cool cupboard, and the white coating makes both of those matter more than usual.

The Tea Break Serve

  • Straight from the wrapper: this is what a multipack is for. The wrapper keeps the wafer dry, which is the one thing that ruins this bar.
  • Strong tea, not weak: a proper builder's brew with tannin in it. Against a weak milky tea the whole break tastes of sugar and nothing else.
  • One bar, not two: one twenty point seven gram bar is sweet enough. This is the bar where a second one stops being pleasant.
  • Cool storage: the white coating softens and marks in the warm. Keep the box away from a radiator, a sunny sill and the top of the fridge.

The Lunchbox Serve

  • The wrapper does the work: it survives a school bag where a loose biscuit would be crumbs by eleven o'clock.
  • With something sharp: an apple, a satsuma or a few grapes alongside. Acidity is the only thing in a lunchbox that answers this much sweetness.
  • Not in a hot car: a white-coated bar left in the sun goes soft, then pale, and never recovers its finish.
  • Portion honesty: eight bars looks like a week of lunches. It usually is not, which is the real argument for the wrapper.

Getting It Right with a Hot Drink

  • Pairing: strong black tea, a builder's brew, an unsweetened coffee, or a plain black Assam. Anything with tannin or bitterness to push back.
  • Avoid: hot chocolate, sweetened lattes and mild milky teas. Sweet against sweet with nothing to cut it is the one combination that does not work.
  • Dunking: no. The wafer takes on water instantly and collapses, and the coating slides off a hot surface.
  • Storage: cool, dry and dark, in the wrappers. A pale coating shows bloom and discolouring more readily than milk chocolate, and once it has, the finish is gone for good.
  • Best with: the mid-morning break, a lunchbox, a long drive, or handed to a child who has decided they do not like dark chocolate.

Sweet, creamy and vanilla-leaning. There is no dark cocoa bitterness behind it.
Wafer●●●○○ 3/5
Three thin dry layers that take up space sugar would otherwise occupy, and give the bar its lightness.

Softer than a milk bar. The white coating is the first to lose its snap in a warm room.

How does it compare

vs Cadbury Fingers White Chocolate Covered Biscuits, 114gThe other white-coated option on our shelf and a very different eat: a short crisp biscuit finger rather than a wafer, and loose in a box rather than wrapped. The Cadbury version is for a plate; this is for a bag.

KitKat 2 Finger White Biscuit Bars Multipack, 8 Pack 165.6g is a dry wafer under a sweet coating, which makes it a poor baking ingredient and a very good cold one, because anything that keeps it cold and dry keeps its snap. Five builds below cover the tea break, a lunchbox plate, a milkshake, a no-bake rocky road and a sundae.

Made with this tea

The Tea Break Serve

One bar, one strong brew, ten minutes. The only decision worth making is the tea, and with a white bar it is the decision that makes or breaks the break.

5 min Serves 1 Easy
You'll need
  • 1 KitKat 2 Finger White bar
  • 250ml strong tea, brewed properly
  • A splash of milk, optional
Method
  1. Brew the tea strong and let it stand two minutes. Weak tea and a white bar is all sugar and no break.
  2. Unwrap the bar and snap the two fingers apart rather than biting across both.
  3. Alternate a finger and a mouthful. The tannin clears the sweetness, which is the only reason the second finger still tastes of anything.

What you'll end up with: a break that finishes clean instead of coating the mouth. Reseal the box before you sit down: an open multipack in a warm kitchen is how you lose the gloss on the other seven.

The Lunchbox Plate

A wrapped bar survives a school bag, which is the whole point of the format. What it needs beside it is something sharp, because nothing else in a lunchbox will cut this much sweetness.

3 min Serves 1 Easy
You'll need
  • 1 KitKat 2 Finger White bar
  • A satsuma, or a small bunch of grapes
  • A hard cheese portion, optional
Method
  1. Pack the bar in its wrapper, not loose. The wrapper is doing the work here.
  2. Add a satsuma or grapes on the other side of the box. Citrus and a sweet, creamy coating is an old pairing and it works for a reason.
  3. Keep the box out of direct sun. A white-coated bar in a hot bag goes soft and then pale.

What you'll end up with: a lunchbox where the sweet thing is portioned and the sharp thing is next to it. The fruit is not decoration; without it the bar tastes of sugar and stops there.

White KitKat Milkshake

Cold milk, vanilla ice cream and two chopped bars. Twenty-five seconds in a blender to a thick shake with wafer specks through it. The one build where the white bar is unambiguously the right choice.

5 min 1 tall glass Easy
You'll need
  • 2 KitKat 2 Finger White bars, chopped
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 200ml cold whole milk
  • A squeeze of lemon, optional
  • Squirty cream to finish
Method
  1. Chop two bars roughly, holding back a few pieces for the top.
  2. Blend the rest with the ice cream and the cold milk on high for 25 seconds, until thick but still pourable.
  3. Taste and add a small squeeze of lemon if it is too sweet. It probably is.
  4. Pour into a tall chilled glass, top with cream and the reserved pieces.

What you'll end up with: a thick pale shake with visible wafer flecks and a clean vanilla finish. The lemon is the professional touch: a quarter of a teaspoon lifts the whole glass without tasting of lemon.

No-Bake White Rocky Road

The traybake that suits a wafer bar, because nothing goes near an oven. Dark chocolate does the binding and the white bars provide the sweetness and the crunch, which is the right way round.

15 min + chill Makes 9 Easy
You'll need
  • 4 KitKat 2 Finger White bars, broken up
  • 200g dark chocolate, broken
  • 60g unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 60g dried cranberries or chopped apricot
Method
  1. Melt the dark chocolate, butter and golden syrup together over a low heat, then take it off the hob.
  2. Break the white bars into rough pieces, leaving some large enough to show in the cut face.
  3. Fold the bars and the dried fruit into the melted mixture quickly, before the wafer softens.
  4. Press into a lined 20cm tin and chill for two hours.
  5. Cut into nine squares with a warm knife.

What you'll end up with: nine squares with pale wafer pieces set into dark chocolate. Working fast matters: the wafer stays crisp if it goes in at the last moment and turns to cardboard if it sits in warm chocolate.

Sundae with Wafer Shards

Five minutes and no cooking. Chopped white bars over ice cream, with something acidic underneath so the whole glass is not one note.

5 min Serves 2 Easy
You'll need
  • 2 KitKat 2 Finger White bars
  • 4 scoops vanilla or raspberry ice cream
  • 100g raspberries or a spoon of sharp fruit compote
  • Whipped cream
Method
  1. Crush the raspberries lightly and divide them between two glasses.
  2. Add two scoops of ice cream to each.
  3. Chop the bars into shards and scatter them over the top just before serving, so they stay crisp.
  4. Finish with whipped cream and a few whole raspberries.

What you'll end up with: two glasses with sharp fruit at the base, cold cream in the middle and crisp wafer shards on top. Assemble the shards last: five minutes in contact with ice cream and they go soft.
