No, despite the name. The flavour comes from natural and nature identical flavour compounds added to a black tea base. There are no biscuit crumbs, no gluten, no dairy in the tea itself, just black tea leaves and flavouring. Vegan and vegetarian friendly.
What is the best biscuit tea?
Tetley Digestive Biscuit Tea is the original and arguably the best balanced, it tastes like a digestive without being cloying. Yorkshire Tea Cherry Bakewell is the next most popular and has a fuller, fruitier character. Yorkshire Caramelised Biscuit Brew is the newest and is extremely sweet toothed; you either love it or find it too much.
Is biscuit tea sweet?
Yes, but without added sugar. The sweet impression comes from flavour compounds rather than sucrose. Most biscuit teas register on the sweet side of normal black tea but are not actually sugary, you can drink them without milk or sugar and they taste complete.
How much caffeine is in biscuit tea?
Roughly the same as standard black tea, 40-50mg per 200ml cup. The biscuit flavouring does not contain caffeine; it just sits on top of a normal black tea base.
