The single most broken thing about UK green tea drinking: people pour boiling water on it.

Water at 80°C, not 100°C. Boil the kettle and let it stand 90 seconds, or pour boiling water into a cold cup before brewing. Above 85°C the catechins (the bitter compounds) over extract.
Steep 1-3 minutes for bagged, 1-2 for loose Sencha. Long steeped green tea is bitter green tea.
2g of leaf per 200ml cup for loose, or one bag per 200ml.
No milk. Milk and green tea produce a strange combination nobody enjoys.
Optional honey. Sugar and green tea is unusual; honey works for some palates.
