Brewing Twinings Metabolism Green Tea (Without the Bitterness)

How to brew Twinings Metabolism green tea: water off the boil at around 80C, a short steep, and no squeezing the bag.

Brewing Twinings Metabolism Green Tea (Without The Bitterness)

Getting this right comes down to the water: let the kettle stand a moment so it is off the boil before it hits the leaf. Green Tea turns bitter if you scald it, so around 80C and a short two to three minute steep keep Twinings Metabolism fresh and lightly citrussy.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Twinings Metabolism
  • 200ml freshly boiled water, cooled for about a minute (around 80C)
  • A slice of lemon, to taste (optional)

Method

  1. Boil the kettle, then let it stand for about a minute so the water drops to around 80C.
  2. Pop the bag into your cup and pour the water over.
  3. Steep for 2 to 3 minutes, no longer, to keep its flavour gentle.
  4. Lift the bag out without squeezing it, then add a slice of lemon if you like.
  5. If it comes out grassy or sharp, shorten the next steep rather than reaching for sugar.
What you'll end up with: A clean, fresh green tea with a light citrus lift and no bitterness, brewed just right.
