The Classic Warming Cup Of Tetley Lemon And Ginger

The Classic Warming Cup of Tetley Lemon and Ginger is a caffeine-free infusion with a zesty lemon hit up front and a comforting, spicy ginger warmth behind it. Brewed properly it stays lively and well balanced rather than fading to weak ginger water the way cheaper bags can.

Serves one. The key is a full boil and a longer steep than a Black Tea, which draws out the real ginger heat and lemon zest. Drink it any time, with no caffeine to worry about.

You'll need

  • 1 tea bag of Tetley Lemon and Ginger
  • 200ml freshly boiled water (100C)
  • Optional: a slice of fresh lemon, or a little honey

Method

  1. Pour freshly boiled water at a full 100C over the bag. This herbal infusion can take the heat.
  2. Steep for 5 minutes, longer than a black tea, to draw out the ginger heat and lemon zest.
  3. Give the bag a gentle press and lift it out.
  4. Drink it as it is, or add a slice of lemon to sharpen it, or a little honey to round the ginger.
  5. For more ginger heat, leave the bag in as you drink; a herbal infusion will not turn bitter the way black tea does.
What you'll end up with: A clean, lively, caffeine-free cup: zesty lemon up front, then a comforting spicy ginger warmth, good any time of day.
